Mixed Messages? Or am I not taking the hint?

Recommended Posts

So I had what I thought was a fantastic date this week. Ended with saying we should do something again and 'yeah, like I said this week is going to be busy with school, but text me and we'll try to work it out!'.

So next day I get in touch with some general banter via text, things seem to be going well, and I ask if she's free on Saturday. I'm told she's busy on Saturday. Understandable, but she doesn't suggest another day that would work.

I took this to mean she's not interested in seeing me again.

But then she keeps chatting away for a bit, not sure if she was being flirty or nice with compliments so I just said "Well if you do get a gap in your schedule and would like to get together again, do let me know".

"I definitely will, especially since we need to check out the latest in fashionable life vests ;)" (reference to a running joke we had on the date)

I guess all I can do is wait and see, but while I initially thought it was 'not interested', the continued chatting and especially the last bit made me wonder.

I'm expecting the worst, but hoping for the best. I don't intend to initiate contact again and leave it up to her. Maybe in a couple days if I feel optimistic I'll just shoot a simple text.

I would ask one more time perhaps during the week for next weekend. After that leave it.

Just back off of this one a bit and let her miss you. But not so much she thinks you are not interested!!! So every other day and leave it a bit if she does text before you respond.

Let her chase you a bit.

I'll do that and see what happens. I don't think I was coming on too strong, we were constantly laughing and the conversation never had a single dull point during the date. I did send a quick 'Had a great time, take care' msg when getting home, and then the next night was when I got in touch again. Didn't think that was 'too soon' if we both had fun.

But yeah, I'll wait until Monday maybe (it's Friday today) and just drop a line to see if she's got a night free.

Ideally I'll hear back from her first, but I'll try not to expect it. I have a very busy weekend anyway so it'll be easy to get on with things.

It's so much easier when they suggest the next date on the first :p

The ball is sort of in her court since you did suggest Saturday and she was the one who declined that day. But if you like her, you can also simply be up front and say I'd like to see you again soon, when works for you? If she doesn't respond favorably then you'll have your answer.

Well I've got an update, I left it Friday without contacting her, then Saturday she messaged me and we went back and forth. Then Sunday again she messaged me in the morning and we chatted through the day.

It's Monday today, so I'll try my luck again and see if we can see eachother again this week. I'm feeling more confident about things now at least :)
