Question for guys: OLD ROI

OLD ROI was touched upon in another thread and it got me wondering what a good ROI actually is and how I compare to that number and to others results, so I can ultimately get an idea if it is really working for me.

So, as its mostly guys who initiate this seems to applicable to men only so I would be interested if anyone can actually produce some rough figures for total number of initiation attempts, number of (positive) responses to the first initiation and then how many 1st dates actually resulted from the positive first responses.

I guess its hard to get an accurate comparison as popularity and age on a dating site will affect how likely you are to get a result. For my particular situation I don't consider myself to be going for anyone less than average in looks, in fact I have sent so few messages because I don't find all that many girls on OLD attractive in the first place. Plus I am from a town so the numbers are pretty limited to start with, this ain't New York. Age is usually from late 20s to early 30s.

I hand craft my opening message and always relate it to their profile text, then spend a lot of time writing follow up messages which is quite time consuming, so I only message one girl at a time really. In terms of man hours I have probably spent waaay more time than my experience has been worth, but in terms of getting a positive response I think I am doing okay.

So numbers:

Initiated contact 8 times

Responses to 6 initiation attempts, 1 of which is ongoing at the moment

2 first dates from those responses

Thoughts? Before anyone says, I know the obvious ROI is achieving a lasting relationship, but I am keen to know how my experience SO FAR ranks as it might be that this is as good as OLD can get for me. And even the conversations/dates that ultimately went nowhere did provide some laughs and preferable to never having spoken to them in the first place.

So your saying out of 8 messages, 8 messages, you got two dates???

That's pretty dang good, it took me around 1,500 to get one date. No joke.

Whaaaat?! Seriously? That's absolutely mad as hell.

This is why I am interested in how others are doing because I think the number of responses I get is good although the whole aim (for me) is to at least meet them in the flesh once- for that to happen twice is not a great return imo.

1,500 messages with no date suggests that the system is very much broken.

If you got 6 responses from 8 messages you're way ahead of the average, even if some of those responses were rejections.

1000+ Messages Sent

8 Responses and 1 Rejection (Not Interested Button on Match)

6 Made it to the Dating Phase

5 Offered Friendship, which I declined

1 Made it to the Relationship Phase

It's a frustrating experience, so I will occasionally "fake it" to have a fling or one night stand to help alleviate frustrations.

Keep in mind that although it took me 1,500 messages to get a date online, in real life I have had 300X better luck. So yes the system is broken.
