irc333
Two guys (twins) found in their home dead after 3 years of no one even noticing. Any of you ever have these thoughts? When they died single and alone, this is the literal term for it. I was thinking, "...when found, they had laptops on their laps, and when checking their browser history, found they were last logged into online dating sites with empty inboxes". Phoe
What a sad story. I agree neighbors oughta be more neighborly. My grandparents went on vacation once, and the older lady across the street noticed their vehicle had been gone for days, came and rang the doorbell to make sure everything was okay. I thought it was really sweet that she checked in even though she doesn't know us.

Omei
I had my neighbor call my landlord to check to see if I was alive because im so quite in my apartment block about a week after I moved in haha the landlord said she thought maybe something happened to me lol 3 years? Idk that's hard to believe you would notice the smell would be so terrible.
oldshirt
How did two people die at the same time? Gas leak? Why didn't the house blow up or neighbors notice the smell? The only way that was true is if they had a large amount of money in a bank account, were not employed and all the utilities and property tax/rent was being automatically paid from the account. If it was just one person with all those conditions that no-one missed or checked up on it might be slightly believable, but for two people to drop off the radar???? Nah-uh. This is an online dating ' woe-is-me' urban legend.
Disillusioned
Yeah, I bought a DVD a few months back (I forget the title) about this single woman in the UK whose skeleton was found in her apartment a couple of years after some people noticed she was missing. The TV was still on when the police found her remains. What really gets me is how all of us laugh and kick at people who say they're lonely, but then when lonely people kill themselves or become terminally ill, we all do an about-face and say we're soooooo sorry! Buncha hypocrites.

Yeah, can't stand such hypocrisy either. :/
kodakgirl
This story and ones like it are very, very sad, but honestly I am offended you would twist something like this into an indictment of online dating. When people die and no one notices for years (women too), it isn't because of a lack of dates. It's a lack of care from family and neighbours-- much sadder, but totally different. In this story especially it looks like the men really wanted to be left alone-- that doesn't mean they should have been left this alone, but it certainly makes your manipulation of the story even less rational. It is incredibly cold to take real-life tragic deaths and imply this is the end result of struggling in online dating, even jokingly. Maybe instead of focusing on dating, you should be focusing on compassion.

Buncha hypocrites. I'm not really trying to make fun. But the thought has crossed my mind that I may wind up like this. I had a recent conversation with a female friend about dating and such and she asked me, "Did you ever think that you may wind up always single?" Not sure why she asked that, but perhaps she was just curious as I'm sure there was a time in her life or anyone's life that might wind up as this. I really am only close with my immediate family and no other members whatsoever, once they are gone...it's just me.

Every time someone gets picked on for posting online that they're lonely, it reminds me of that scene in "A Clockwork Orange" where the 4 droogs are kicking and beating that old homeless guy just for the hell of it.
