Suggetsion for single ladies who want to meet men

There's a bad winter storm coming where I live. Like many, I ran out to buy milk & bread. I also went to get some beer for my husband.

Ladies, if you want to meet men, go to a liquor store before a big storm. The place was packed! The lines were worse than the grocery store and WalMart combined. I was one of maybe 2 women customers in the whole store.

Hint: I had a case of good craft beer in my cart. Half the guys in the place struck up a conversation with me.

Other good places to meet guys, if you can be bothered, are garages (it seems mainly guys fill up the car at the petrol station) and frequent car audio shops. While I was waiting to talk to a tech at the car audio shop, no fewer than five guys came in to buy satnavs - and who says women can't read maps?

Of course this happens when you have a man. lol. A single lady probably wouldn't get near the attention. :)

I don't know about that. I had gloves on so it wasn't obvious that I was taken.

FWIW worth I looked awful too -- no makeup, glasses & a baggy sweater.

Well, you end up with guys who drink beer, LOL! Don't you want the ones that went out for bread?

Whats wrong in drinking a bear from time to time? Men who don't drink at all either they quit because of alcoholism or they are simply not that fun in my opinion.

Love that. That would be the perfect time to meet someone. That way when you put on the makeup they are just like WOW!

Bad advice.

The guys rushing to the liquor store to stock up before the storm are the alcoholics that will go into withdrawls if they are stuck without it for a couple days.

I was about to say. Who prioritises booze over food and water?

An excess of food and booze are always a good conversation starter. A few months ago a friend of mine (we are older ladies) went to a barbecue joint that is sort of a popular bar as well. They have the best fries, so we ordered an entire drink tray full of them to eat and then take some home. Well, every man that walked past our table stopped and did a double-take and had something to say about it -- or wanted to share. I guess if we'd ordered a few bottles of beer and had them sitting there as well, we'd have had a table full.

Suggetsion for single ladies who want to meet men

Stores, like BevMo versus the local liquor 'dive', can be a good place to run into single men, mainly due to numbers relevant to location/type. The bigger 'beverage' stores cater to a more diverse clientele, so can present a wider scope of single men. One type in the hard liquor area, another over in beer, another in wine, etc, etc.

Here in perpetually sunny California, one place I always tell women to try out, since most women love to shop, are those car shows where they cordon off a part of a mall's parking lot and all the guys with their vintage cars and hot rods show up. Sure, many are married but a lot are single too. Lean over a few fenders, ask some 'stupid' questions and see what happens. The same might apply to motorcycle shows. No need to go out of your way. If at a mall and seeing the hubub, check it out.

Happy hunting!

It depends. Talking to the guy with a full cart probably will get you an addict. Talking to the guy with a six pack . . . who knows?

Hmmm....You are not really suggesting women looking for quality men, go into a liquor store to pick up men for LTR? I mean, did it occur to you that some of these men might have drinking problems as well as other addictions?

I can tell you where else is packed with men just before a storm.....a Marijuana / other drug outlets....

I don't really seee the qualitative difference between the liquor store & a bar, where tons of people make connections throughout the history of time. In fact, odds are with the better lighting & the fact that most people in teh liquor store are sober at the time of purchase, the store may be better than a bar.

Clearly this suggestion is not meant for everyone & is certainly not meant for a woman who doesn't drink but seriously, not everyone who has 1-2 drinks in their home & doesn't drive after having imbibed is a drunk with a troubled past & no future. Like anyplace else, you have to go into a new meeting with your eyes open & your brain engaged.

Lighten up. The original post was rather tongue in cheek motivated by the large # of men in the store vs. few women.

If you feel you have to drink to be able to have fun, you're doing it wrong. Lots of alcoholics started out that way, thinking that they needed to drink to have fun. That said, there is nothing wrong with having a drink from time to time. Moderation is the key.

I personally don't drink for health reasons and the fact that my father and several close relatives were alcoholics or had drinking problems, so why go down the same road? Are people like me necessarily 'not fun' because we have good reasons for not drinking?
