Am I still too young/should I date older?

I'm 25 and I haven't had a relationship that's decent yet. I was having an interesting conversation with a family member who's in his 30s, and he says that women generally don't mature fully until they're the age of 32 (he's going by experience). I realize that age isn't set in stone and it will vary depending on the woman, but I'm starting to wonder if there's some legitimacy to that. I hear that younger women don't know what they want, that there's more psychology involved and that it's just more frustrating. I've also heard that women are even better after they've been through a divorce and have a kid.

I'm thinking that I should probably wait a few more years before trying to find something more serious, or at least date older women. My relative keeps saying that I should date older judging by what I've said I want. What do you think?

Women start to mature after they are past child-bearing age. From then on they begin to become more like men in mentality.

Well, I would say men mature in their fourties...

I strongly advice you to pull this down from a generalising level to that of individuals. I absolutely refuse to believe that you are incapable of meeting a mature woman of your own age - if you can't, I would say that reflects back on yourself rather than 'women' in general. If your strategy is to wait until you're in your mid-thirties and then look for a woman who is older than you, then I think you will find a lot of women hesitant to engage with a thirty something man with no relationship experience bar the advice of a relative, especially if they themselves have already been through a marriage and have a child.

I understand your frustration, but I don't think waiting is a good plan. Just keep looking for women in your age group and you might get lucky and find someone you are compatible with.

IME, many young adult women 20-25ish THINK they are more mature compared to men when in reality they are actually just as callow and inexperienced in life. The difference between men and women here is men don't fake a maturity they don't have.

Maturity depends on the person not the age.

I've met 30 year olds who are less mature than your typical high school kids, still drinking, going out every night, doing recreational drugs, trying to pick up easy women instead of finding the right one...

I know people in their twenties who hold multiple jobs, have very rich educational backgrounds, do many great things within their community, work at fortune 500 companies are settled down and investing in their first property etc.

Please don't use the "women" mature faster line. So many younger girls do it and honestly, every girl that has ever said that to me has some major flaw about themselves that they've overlooked.

Date a guy because he's mature, not just because he's older...and please, take a deep look at what you really want before you jump into anything. Most girls dream of marriage, the house and the kids. I don't know how old you are but not many early 20 year olds are ready for that kind of commitment, no matter how much they think they want it/are ready for it.
