How to avoid the confidence slap-in-the-face

Recommended Posts

Sorry for the unintelligable title, what I meant to ask is:

We all know everything is about confidence. Especially true for people not blessed with amazing looks or other uncontrollable factors.

But when I decide to be a confident person and go about my life with a confident spin on everything, in the back of my mind is this voice saying ok-- we're being CONFIDENT! helloooo??? I thought confidence is supposed to reward you with people noticing you--talking to you-- etc etc.. And yet, people really react towards me exactly the same as when I'm not confident. Problem is there's just so many confident people already, that being confident you just become well, another confident person.

Without having positive reinforcement for you confidence (as in.. a rewarding experience due to your confidence) what's the motivation for me to keep it up? My natural state seems to be unconfidence. So to maintain it is hard. But without any noticable differences in the effects, how can I keep it up?

I admit, ALL my past "accomplishments" happened during times I had more unconfident undertones to myself. Any thoughts??

I think you are just faking confidence because when you're confident you're not telling yourself that you're confident. For me, confidence comes from making lots of mistakes and learning from them. You do it long enough and you'll realize there is no point of stressing of being always right. To keep it up you just repeat whatever skill that you want to be confident in.
