blackcat777
I saw a recommendation for one book in another thread, and was wondering if anyone could add to a list of good books to read when seriously considering marriage? I was thinking along the lines of things to discuss with a partner, but I'll never turn down anything along the lines of some Dr. Pat Allen, too. Thanks!
salparadise
I've got two excellent books for you. I own both and think they're the best. Five Keys to Mindful Loving by David Richo Getting the Love You Want by Harville Hendrix
Miss Peach
I love Pat Allen! I really like the Boundaries books. I read Boundaries in Dating but there is also a Boundaries in Marriage books with similar content. It has a very heavy Christian slant so it's not going to be for everyone but even for someone like myself who isn't religious I found some good advice in there. Anything Gottman is also a good one. I also like the exercises on the Marriage Builders website.

SammySammy
The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. Or go with the original Financial Peace by Dave Ramsey. According to Dave, the number one contributor to divorce is money fights and money problems. It's a good idea to discuss and work out the money issues before tying the knot.
