Nose job before marriage

Recommended Posts

Hi there, my sister is getting next year and she wants to have a nose job before her marriage. Well to be honest her nose is big and fluffy and doesn't suit her otherwise cute face. But we are in a doubt about the surgery because if something goes wrong we don't want that to affect her marriage. Is there anyone here who has has a rhinoplasty before. Which surgeon did you go to? Her wedding is on January, what is the recovery period of the surgery?

I wouldn't advise getting any surgery just for a wedding. How long has she wanted to get this done? Has she done any research?

I had rhinoplasty three years ago and found it to be a lot less painful than I expected. You suffer more discomfort than pain but breathing is hard for a couple of weeks and your mouth is very dry. You need to sleep upright for a while and avoid wearing glasses for 4-6 weeks, but you can go back to work in 2-3 weeks. By then bruising should be minimal and easily covered with a little make-up.

My surgeon was a maxillo-facial surgeon - you really need this or a reputable plastic surgeon because cosmetic surgeons don't necessarily receive specialist training. Ask if your GP can refer you.

But back to my opening point - she shouldn't get it done if this is purely about wedding concerns. Rhinoplasty can't be undone so you need to think about it and research it for months before you come to a decision. I saved up for mine for years so I had plenty of time to plan it!

If her future husband marrying her for the nose then it make sens. Please tell her there are million other things to worry than the size of a nose. And why go behind with unhealthy things like plastic surgeries any way. By the way it is her choice wish her good luck for her wedding!

I have no qualms with plastic surgery, for some folks it alleviates snoring or other ailments caused thru improper breathing. She is over 18 and can tend to her own medical decisions. Be supportive. It takes about 3-4 months for the swelling to ease to normal, Its slightly puffy . I would recommend that if you have medical questions, to go with her to an appointment. They are best versed in how to answer these concerns. Congrats to her on her nuptuals! A Board certified doctor can be researched...

I had that surgery done when I was in my late 20's and I never regretted it. The recovery time is a few weeks, if I remember correctly. The first day or two were pretty rough due to the anesthesia but, otherwise, everything went as smooth as silk. I think I took a few days off from work and when I got back, everyone asked me if I had lost weight. lol. They couldn't figure out what was different but they knew something was different. To me, the change was significant and made me very happy. If your sister does this, she should do it at least 6 mos before her wedding because even once it's over, your looks continue to change for about 6 mos.

I wouldn't try to discourage her from doing this because she wants that new look before she gets married. Wedding pictures last forever so that's probably what she's thinking about. Also, if you can, be there for her afterward for a day or two because she'll need someone by her side.

The only thing I would caution is to be sure to pick a very reputable dr, make sure he explains everything to her in detail so that she knows what to expect. This should not impact her relationship with her fiance at all; although it could makes things better because she'll feel more confident about herself.

Had one 7 months before my wedding, Dr. Bahman Guyuron in Cleveland, Ohio. He's the absolute best for noses. Around 9,000 but mine was a revision case. So your sisters would cost less.

Thank you so much for the responses. She is pretty adamant about getting this rhinoplasty. She wanted this since long and has been researching about the process and doctors for some time now. She has finally decided on Dr.Philip Solomon of Solomon Facial Plastic Clinic, Ontario. What are your thoughts on this? Anyone has prior experience with Dr.Solomon?

I've never heard a nose described as "fluffy"...
