Getting fit without losing much weight

Hey, just found this site. Cool you let guests post. Anyway, I've as sort of genral fitness question, I'll explain first.

I've always been naturally very skinny. Also I did alot of sport( soccer,cross-country running, hurling(local irish game) which kept me thin. I wasn't particuly bothered, though it was a bit embarresing taking my shirt off and having the first words anyone say to me was "your sooo skinny." As yo've probably guessed I've gained weight since then but around this time last year I was 16 years old, around six foot and 120 pounds, a 26 inch waist.

Anyway, for various reasons I stopped doing these sports regulary round the end of last summer. I suppose because I didn't have to be fit I let myeslf go, ate more, stopped doing sit-ups,crunchs, etc. I put on about a stone and gained a good few inchs round my waist. I loved it at first. There was still muscle defintion on my stomach and my ribs were becoming less visable.

About half a year of that has made me very flabby and unfit though. I went swimming last week and noticed my stomach was starting hang out over my waist band, even though it still intially dips in a little from my rib-cage at the top. I would post a picture but I don't know how an it won't be too pretty anyway.

So basicly what I want to do is tone my stomach up again and get fitter, but without getting much thinner. Even though I've gained about three inchs of fat round the waist I think, and most people seem to agree, I look better as a flabby-stomached slim person than an ultra-skinny guy with a six pack. I'm playing regulary soccer again, one of the reasons I want to be fitter after noticing how slow and tired I was after a couple of minutes, but I'm worried i will just become very skinny if I do alot of arerobic exercises. Any tips are appricated.Thanks.

P.S-I'm now 17, male, 137 pounds, probably six foot 1 and around 29 inch waist.
