Status of premium member subscriptions

Hey Paul:

So how has the whole premium subscription thing worked out? Its looks like a number of regulars have signed up. How are we looking financially? Is this like a big windfall for LS?

While the response to Premium Subscriptions has been mostly positive, and every little bit helps, we've not nearly reached a point where subscriptions alone would cover the costs of maintaining the site.

Approximately 20 individuals have subscribed for varying lengths of time as of this writing, which at an average of $2.29/month, would contribute just shy of $46 for the first month. Our monthly costs are exponentially higher, but we'd rather keep the price of a subscription within the financial reach of most participants. Ideally, we'd like to have a few hundred subscribers to fully cover the costs, but we're being realistic with our expectations.

We hope to continue to develop new features for premium subscribers and plan to continue to promote the service. We've got some interesting ideas in the works that will likely make premium subscriptions even more attractive.
