Quit Smoking...

Anybody out there quit smoking recently and want to be my buddy?
I quit on Jan 1 and started with the patch, but I got strep throat so bad last week that I figured it was a good time to get rid of the patch and be nicotine free. (not sure that was a smart move BTW)

I'm still feeling some withdrawel symtpoms and going through extreme depression.

Would love to have a buddy to chat with....

Sorry I haven't recently quit smoking...nor do I pretend to know what you're going through..........

BUT I wish you only the best of luck and think that anyone who's breaking an unhealthy habit, one I'm sure was related to stress relief (I've heard friends say that they smoke more when their stressed out). However I'm assuming it could/would cause depression, irritation, ect.

I think since you're serious about quitting and seeking support via a buddy going through the something similar situation, seeking out a smoker's AA meeting would be a great idea... there you can gain support, ideas for cravings, befriend someone (or several people) who are going through or have gone through this as well.

I honestly wish you the absolute best of luck, keep us updated and remember it's not the end of the world or your ending a habit if you slip up and have a smoke, forgive yourself, gain your footing/strength and continue along your path to a smoke-free life. Best wishes.

My fiancee kept putting off stopping smoking, he was on ready mades when he met me, and moved onto roll-ups, which started him smoking less everyday just becasue he had to stop to take the time to roll, and i also found that when he was out in a pub he would smoke so much more than normal, like, if we were at home, he would (very occasioanlly) not even be bothered about smooking all day.

but then just after our engagement party, i told him that if he still wanted to quit (he had been telling me that THIS was the last packet for months) i would help him. and i suppose i had it easy, ive neevr been able to stop my dad smoking and ive given up.

but it started on the 24th of november, i made him a chart, where every day i would put on a smiley face if he didnt smoke (i completely trusted him anyway, but sometimes i would come into the pub for my shift at night and people would be commenting on him refusing a cigarette, even my dad was telling me when they both got home from work) ok, so 2 days in the first week, 1st day he did have a fag, and the 2nd time he had a drag of one.

christmas eve: hes had a "celebratory cigar" for years, this year he asked me if he could have one, and i agreed...he didnt even finish it and it made him ill..thats exactly one month from the start of his "non smoking" thing. now its the 28th of jan, and in two more days the chart i made him will expire, and im so proud of him, because at times he did really annoy me with his constant tapping and fidgeting when he wanted a cigarette, and we fell out on a few occasions because of it, but now, as far as im aware, he doesnt even crave them anymore!

its funny - i have so much willpower to help oher people, but when it comes to myself....
