signs of interest...

Hey all, I sorta have a question in mind I need some clarification on but I got explain a lil bit about how I maybe got myself ended up in my current situation...

Basically, I'm interested in this girl (whom I'll name Girl L) at College. The thing is, both me and Girl L are sophomore students at the Coll and a bunch of my guy friends know her. One of my friends had made a dumb joke/made fun of Girl L when I was still new in Coll (2nd sem, i think) apparently saying she liked me and stuff. Me, thinking it was a dumb joke and not knowing her personally, didn't put too much into the joke and never really pursued the matter.

Now, bringing this matter to the present day. This semester she enrolled in one the classes that I was also in and after seeing her personality and working w/ in class, my interest in her started growing larger. The thing is this girl is quite shy with ppl outside of her social circle. Other than talking to her in a couple of group discussions and making her laugh in class, she often ignores me and acts all cold and stuff when I try to smile or say hi to her in the Coll hallways and stuff, but there are also times when she actually says hi or smile back. I'm quite the extrovert at Coll and have many friends, so strangely enough she's the only one that acts this way with me in the Coll hallways.

My question to all is, by the limited info that I've displayed here, is the interest only flowing one way (from me to her, not her to me), how do shy girls often show signs of interest or act when they are interested in a guy, and do you think my chance with her passed by already? Also, I usually find shy girls boring because conversations with them often become end up being a "one-sided" conversation. So, I'm actually in a bind here because I don't know if this issue is worth pursuing... Thanks in advance for the help...

P.S. I'm also sure this girl is single and many apologies for the length of my thread...

Hello,

I was quite struck reading your post because Girl L reminds me of the way I was at her age.

I was rather shy and, if interested in a guy, I would have acted in a way that is very similar to the way she is behaving with you.

Please mind that I am not saying that I necessarily think that she is interested in you - I would not want to give you false hope- but I'm merely pointing it out as a possibility.
If she is shy, it is possible that she might be interested.

Have you considered asking a common friend to let it slip casually with her that he/she thinks that you like her?
It might sound childish to some people, but if she is awfully shy it might be a good way to find out if your interest is reciprocated.

oh, and many shy people can become very fun and interesting to talk with once they have overcome their shyness.
