Is it normal to feel bewildered and not sure what to do, after college?

My BF just got out of college, graduated with a CS degree from a really well known college. He has not been job searching just yet because his last semester was filled with class, unlike the usual last semester where the student has the time to job seek. He is taking each day as it comes and is about to start his job search but it seems like he has no clue what hes doin. I think he would rather just take a vacation, etc. Is this normal?

A few of my friends were in similar positions after graduating, especially the ones with computer science degrees. Soon I will join them, perhaps. :X In this area is is extremely difficult to land a job after getting a CS degree unless you know precisely what it is you wish to do.

Normal? Hell yeah. Some of us take a very long time to sort out what we want to be when we grow up. And whatever's wrong with taking a bit of a break between school and work? I know a lot of people who take their first summer off to go travelling.

yeah, a break is certainly ideal, but not when you have parents who are nagging me about what my bf is doing! lol
my parents are very idealistic in the sense that you must get a job right after college. its do or die with them really.
thus, the pressure is on. yikes

Well, not everybody is going to live up to their ideas. It would be useful if they realized that.

idealistic in the sense that you must get a job right after college

I'd not call that anything like idealistic. Sounds to me extremely pragmatic

If they were genuinely idealistic, they'd hope that he'd go to South America or Africa and do some work among the poor.
