Finding purpose in life...

hope this makes sense, but I just don't understand my purpose in life. Sometimes I wonder why I am even here because I have not done anything to make life worth living. I don't know why I am living? Now, I am not suicidal of anything, just wondering what the purpose is for living.

What is your purpose of living? I find I have no purpose...

A lot about the meaning of life can be found in thoughts about death. I hope you'll read what Kahlil Gibran wrote about death in his book, "The Prophet." Go here: http://www.columbia.edu/~gm84/gibran27.html

The meaning of life is basically the experiences we create and enjoy for ourselves. There is no hidden meaning. It's right there for you to make what you like out of it. Nothing to search for. It's right under your nose. You can sit for weeks or years feeling sorry for yourself and pondering the desperation of it all or you can get out and do things for others to reduce their suffering, serve others with work you do, view the wonders of the world, smell flowers, take walks in the hills and mountains and find so many things to be in awe of.

Find worthy projects that you can be interested in. Remember, life is a great gift of a tiny moment of consciousness...a period in which your soul may see what it didn't see before and will never see again. You are here right now and this is it. If you waste it being down on yourself and circumstances, you have wasted the only gift life will ever give you and therefore the chance of finding any meaning at all.

Hi, Longlegz

Yours is a tall order. People spend years looking for their meaning and purpose.

The Prophet is an excellent book.

Here are some other sites where others have been exploring the same questions:

Maybe you should find the answer to this question: "What is the purpose of death?"

Or this: Why do things need to have a purpose?

Death is part of life. You can't be truly human until you are aware of your mortality, it's one of the things that separates things from animals.

purposelessness is great!

i feel absolutely purposeless as well, and it's quite liberating - thank god i don't have any kind of mission, - i can do whatever the hell i want with my life! so, listen to tony.

it's easy to get sucked into these philosophical qns when u'r feeling down, but try not to - they resolve nothing, you might as well focus on resolving what got you down in the first place.

Wink motivation = finding purpose in life

everyone has a purpose in life, they just have to find out what it is on their own.
no one can point you in the right direction in the path you choose, you make the choice.
i saw no purpose to life if you asked me 6 months ago, but if u ask now ill tell you...

ive been there..thinking hm..well ive finally made it to college..what now?
is this major what i really want? what am i gonna do when i graduate?
even my older bro was worried about my future because it did not look bright from where i was standing... 1 yr so far in college and doing the same things...delaying getting my drivers license, didnt work, routine was school..come home..hang out..pretty much unmotivated. but now things are better, he doesnt have to worry about me, cause he sees the path i chose to walk and see that im doing something with my life.

Let me say this and ONLY this.
One can stay in the comfort zone for only so long...to stay unmotivated, unaccepting of change or growth of oneself.

there is a certain point in your life where something just clicks in your brain, where motivation takes process. YOU just have to realize what that is before it's too late...ppl can only guide you to where you wanna go, but you have to decide WHAT TO DO when the time comes.

you cant really tell yourself to find a purpose in life or motivate yourself by telling yourself, it doesnt help ive been there...you have to go out there and get em tiger! ..you just have to come to realization that motivation is key to your survival in society. you should have confidence in everything that you do...i think that is the true root of where motivation comes from....REmember...Actions speak louder than words! (it's true for the most part)

keep this quote in mind....: (i usually keep this quote around as it's always helpful)
"Do something you don`t want to do every day; this is the golden rule in acquiring the habit of doing your duty without pain."
-Mark Twain

now then..you dont need me to interpret that do you?
hope this helped
