Please click on the link below, read the original post, then go to post 32 and browse each subsequent post all the way to the end. This is an EXCELLENT EXAMPLE of how so many threads end up, terribly off topic because ONE PERSON decided to take it away from its original purpose and everybody who followed decided it must be the off topic thread.

At this writing, the off topic banter goes on for ten posts...and the last ones even have links to pictures of candy. There's even a link to a video on YouTube about candy. There is NOTHING in the original post that discusses candy! This is scary!

This is serious business and can happen in a thread where somebody is in terrible pain or even suicidal. Please consider the feelings of others before you take a thread and go south with it, posting playful, irrelevant banter where solid advice is called for.

Off-topic question - someone mentioned on your sticky thread that they didn't like posters bringing in the OP's past posting history and that they felt that was a t/j. To me, reading past posts brings huge relevance to the OP's purpose. Is that a T/J according to your rule?

And....what if there is a T/J placed parenthetically? Can a poster respond with a one-line T/J labelled as such, if the vast majority of the post is about the original post?
