It appears that users used to be able to edit and delete threads but I can no longer figure out how to do that.
is this possible anymore?
Also, I cannot figure out how to delete my account.

As far as I'm aware, posts/threads cannot be edited or deleted after there has been a response. IME, I'm also not able to edit my posts after a specific period of time...even if there is no subsequent post.

If you have a compelling reason to have your account deleted, contact LS admin -- the policy is to not do that because, if permission is freely granted, imagine the mass confusion and irrelevance that could result if posts just start getting yanked willy-nilly.

If/when we don't want an account anymore, I think the deal is to just stop posting.

There is a limited amount of time, less than ten minutes, during which you can edit a post after it's up. That's to prevent material changes after people have responded.

There is no need to delete an account. Simply don't use it and it will fade into oblivion. It will be here in a year or two if you need it, though. It is stated very clearly in the terms and conditions of use of this site that accounts are permanent and that great care should go into creating anonymous member names.
