The first portion of my K-1 packet has been delivered to the Vermont Service Center. So now there's nothing left to do but to wait and pray for a speedy process.

The timelines right now are somewhere between 2-3 months for NOA2, which isn't that bad. After that it's all up to Montreal to schedule his interview, but they've been kind of slow. Eitherway, it seems to be a whole lot faster than the California Service Center from filing to visa in hand.

And you don't have to deal with those people on "island time" which means "things get done whenever they get done - don't stress or worry" even though the process is so friggin' long and no one takes it seriously so of course there's stress and worry!
Don't worry RC -- I am sure things will go smoothly. You do not have any issues to start out with and those centers are used to processing applications like yours. It is very routine.
Not to mention the US and Canada are BFFs anyway.
Got our NOA1 and they cashed our check. All that's left is our NOA2, interview and approval(and all the little things in between). Can't wait for this to be complete.

I'm so excited I seriously can't go back to sleep. I'm thinking about going to Virginia for a little bit to go to Tractor Supply. My silly dog refuses to sleep in his dog house even if it's cold and raining. I've put some of my clothes in there, tried feeding him in there, nothing. He hasn't been inside since he was a puppy which was 4 years ago, so I don't know what his problem is. But today I've got enough energy to figure it out!

It's the K-1, or Fiance(e) visa. Basically, we file our petition, they approve it, he has his medical exam, I provide support documents, and he goes for his interview. If all goes well, we get approved, and then he has 6 months to enter the US on this visa. Once he enters, we have 3 months to get married. Then we adjust his status. The process up until marriage could take 8-9 months, but I'm hoping it's more like 5 since VSC is moving so fast. We'll see!

So after you get married, does he have to go back to Canada to apply for his spousal visa or can he just transfer it over from fiance to spousal while still residing in the US. With the fiance visa in the UK, you have to prove you'll be married within the 6 months and during it, you can't work. That's why we decided against it. It's best for me to stay here, work, and save money for the wedding. Then you just go to the local visa centre there and they stamp you for the spousal visa and that's it!

No, the fiance visa is to bring him here. Once he's here, he stays. As long as we get married within that 90 days, of course. If we wanted to, we could go ahead and get married, he'll return to canada and then we'll file the K-3 or the CR-1. Once he's here on his K-1 visa we have to apply for work authorization, but after that he can work. Overall we'll be dealing with them(immigration) for a lot of years to come.
