How many posts do i have to submit??

How many posts do i have to submit before I can send someone a private IM. I have asked this before , when I started out with like one post. Now I have nearly 70, and I still don't see that I'm allowed to do this? How many do I have to have, 2000??????? lol

The exact number is confidential but you are close to being there. As a new member, it should not have been important to you because you were new and its not likely you knew anybody in the forums. We have this delayed feature because of the great number of spammers who would like to do their thing on PMs rather than in the open forums where they get quickly deleted.

If there is an emergency, then state such and we will try to accommodate you in that case.

Many thanks.

Confidential? Well, a few days after I signed up, I noticed a few people I wanted to send private IM's too. We had a lot in common, and its been frustrating not being able to send the private messages to them, after I have hit the 70 point. It should not have been important to me, because I am new? Well, everyone is different, you never know.......

I sort of wondered this myself. I'm closing in on 400 posts ( gah! I need to get out of the house!) and still don't have PM privileges.

I wonder if Tony (or LS) check the IP before giving those privileges to see if they match any other LS member?

Isn't the other requirement to have been here over a month?

I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect 50 posts and a month before PM privileges. The amount of trolls we get on this board, especially when a certain other board goes down or gets boring, I think it's pretty smart actually.

A month won't kill you.

It boggles my mind. This is NOT a social web site. It is a place where people read posts and give important advice, a place to help people in public forums...that is the MAIN purpose. That members want to exchange niceties in PMs so soon in their membership is puzzling to me given the purpose of the site. Oh, well...

It's a combo of post count and amount of time on LS. You haven't been here a month yet.

If a LS member is recreating her/himself with another username, I would think that they would know when PM privvies would be happening.
