Why the **** are there ads for companies that promote infidelity running on LS?!?!?!?

For Christ's sake, people come to LS to get help with their problems. This company is in the business of CREATING problems.

Mods, are you paying attention?

Does anybody else find this pretty disgusting?

LS uses Google ads, which search web pages for keywords. A poster started a thread about this service so Google picked it up. As a premium subscriber, I don't see the ads but it's the same on my forums. There's Alzheimer drug ads everywhere

BTW, the thread you started here added more ad placements

I've been seeing the ads sporadically over the past few months, so it wasn't just today's threads...but yeah, it's picked up with the recent spate of mentions of a certain site. Oh, the irony. OK, let's all stop talking about that company now and maybe it'll just go away.

The company likely buys keyword placement, for example "infidelity", but precise naming of the company will generate a more pervasive hit. They pay for how well the keywords target the ad, as well as the click-through's.

I don't see ads (you just need to subscribe )

Plus I disagree that it is creating problems.. maybe they are solving problems..

Plus.. I don't smoke so.. if I see an advertisement about cigarettes.. it won't make me smoke..

It's a FREE WORLD!!!

Here's another way to look at it: The company supporting infidelity pays for the ad placement, and for the click-throughs, right? Doesn't this have the potential to be a kind of a reverse action kind of thing, where you know that they are probably getting sub-average return from these ads, yet they are still paying good money for them?

I found it upsetting too!

I'm sure it is just clumped in with all the other advertising, but like some have said I may look at becoming a supporting member and then there is no need for the ads. They need the ads so people will click on them to keep this website up, but yet if members like us would pay for a membership....no need for the ads!!

I'd guess that the ads help support the site that you enjoy so much. Take away the ads, and you might not have a LoveShack to even bytch about it.

And yes, get a subscription if it bugs you so much. Maybe if more people subscribed they wouldn't have to run those kinds of ads.

Actually, no offense to anyone but whining annoys me more than those ads.

(Sheesh...why do I like it here again?)
