I once dated a guy who followed me all over my apartment whenever I got up to do something, get something out of the bedroom, whatever. But I drew the line when he followed me to the restroom. I think that might define needy fairly well.

Another kind of needy is what can be described as a 'crazy maker'. These are the people who will create drama when you're doing something simple - like sitting on the sofa, peacefully reading a book. They can't stand for your attention to be diverted elsewhere so they start doing some kind of 'dance' to get your attention. Again, needy.

Another sign of neediness - but is really more in the area of control - is a guy who constantly calls you in order to check up on you. And if you don't answer your phone immediately, they become paranoid and upset. Needy and controlling.

For a woman who doesn't like being touched much, a touchy-feely guy might seem needy to her. But the same guy will be perfect for a touchy-feely woman.

Basically put a needy guy/girl is insecure and needs constant awareness/validation that you're into him/her. Such as calling every so often, wanting to see you so often, basically making their world revolving around you.

I dated a needy girl once and that's what she did. She was seeking constant approval/signs that I was into her. It just gets to the point that you find them to be annoying and/or suffocating you.
