Threads automatically closed after 60 days?

http://www.loveshack.org/forums/t56954/

Is it possible to pin this thread at the top of the coping section? It is a very helpful thread by no foolin'.

Tried to bump his thread up, and the message I got was, this thread is no longer accepting replies after 60 days (or something close to that). I'm just concerned now that noone can reply to it, it'll disappear into the past posts that not too many read.

Thanks.

WWIU, since you post a lot, just do what I did and put the thread in your sig line with the appropriate tag. It doesn't appear the admins here are fond of stickies, so I doubt your inquiries will meet with success. Happy to be wrong

It's a thread that exploded with so much insight and so many people learn from it, rely on it and if it doesn't get pinned or allow others to write on it, it'll disappear into the thread heaven.

Good idea Carhill!

I can't speak to policy here, but, normally, when I sticky a thread that is informative and educational, like the one you referenced, I prefer to lock it and use it strictly for educational purposes, inviting members to discuss their personal experiences in specific threads on-forum.

Different forum, different admin, different policy (perhaps)

There are many threads on this forum that are above average and extremely helpful. We are currently working on content for the site that will address many aspects of human relationships and behavior. The subject of the referenced thread will be one of those.

We get new members every day and I think it's good that some of these subjects get reintroduced by means of a thread so others can be afforded a chance for input. Of the hundreds of great threads that should be immortalized, we probably ought to have a reference library on our site and perhaps that something we can work on. Meanwhile, the search function works quite well.

We simply can't pin every great thread and it would not be practical to do so. Thanks for your suggestions and we will work hard in the direction of satisfying the need you have identified in a manner that will be practical.

Just a silly idea, but what about doing a poll for NC thread to be pinned? Just out of curiousity to see how many people think it should be..

Thanks for your response Tony

This is an Internet forum, not a democracy. If you read my reasons closely above, you will understand why doing so is impractical and too selective. There are MANY threads that deserve the honor.

Keep the suggestions coming! We do appreciate them and most of them are acted upon favorably.

I see that there used to be a rating system (the older threads sometimes have stars).

s this used as an indicator for pinning threads? I see it as nearly impossible for the mods to read every thread, so this kind of feedback could save some time, right?

Could it be reestablished?

Why not emphasize to use the rating system. Theree are hacks that make it a bit more obvious, and then when a thread reaches a certain secret level of popularity, shift it over into a BEST OF category that will need to be created
