Changing the eating lifestyle

Just out of curiosty, is there anyone who used to eat alot of unhealthy foods and then once you turned manily to fruits, and veggies, fish, and whole grains etc, felt better? I have read alot about how some people who change their eating habits totally, feel so much better after cutting out certain foods. I'm thinking of changing my eating habits. Maybe gradually, is best for me, and not try to cut out ALL the things I should just yet, but work my way up to that.

Cutting down of foods containing lots of sugar, easing off on soda, fats, meats, etc. will certainly make a difference in the way you feel. This ought to be coupled with a bit of exercise. Eating well will always make you feel better. Eating junk will kill you eventually. Even watching the way foods are cooked (broiling or grilling vs. frying, etc.) can make a major difference in your overall health.

True. I had read an article about how one woman was a big fan of red meat, but come to find out red meat was causing her alot of problems. So she cut out red meats, starting eating mainly fish, fruits and veggies etc, and she said she could tell a big difference, especially in her energy level and her digestive system. Meat was hard for her system to break down. Which , I was thinking it can be tough on most people's systems too.

I have never really ate all that healthy, and I'm not getting any younger so I figure I better start making some changes and soon. I like meats though, so I thought about at least cutting back on that for now, and my salt intake, I have a problem with salt. I don't put salt on my foods, its more of processed foods that contain all that sodium I have had a problem with.

I hope I can set my mind to try and do the better thing.

I used to have atrocious eating habits (and lifestyle habits) when I was a teenager, and I totally and completely changed overnight. I've always been a little dramatic like that. For the most part I've stuck with it ever since, though I did go through an early to mid twenties drinking phase that could hardly be called healthy. Ironically, I still ate fairly healthy, despite averaging around 4 or 5 drinks a night (tuesday-sunday, hee hee), and I'd make my sorry ass run 5 miles the next day as penance. It's really interesting how one can lead a paradoxical lifestyle like this.

I am utterly convinced that eating right, exercising, sleeping right, and managing/controlling stress are the ingredients to feeling wonderful. Add to that engaging hobbies, interesting work/career, and good friends/family and you've pretty much got it made. I've got the eating right and exercising part down, the rest I need to work on!

I think right now my main issue is motivation, for both exercise and eating right. I keep saying I'm going to, and I'll come up with 100 excuses for why I haven't. I do exercise but its not on a regular basis. If I could just change my mind set that would help.
