I have been very, silly! I have a crush on a person who i've never met! we are penfriends who write to each other a few times a month and email each other a few times a month. I've been penfriends with this friend for around two years! i never anticipated actually have a crush on what is just pictures and writing..it's kinda surreal and i can't help but feel a little desperate here. It's not what I imagined would happen when i first became penfriends. is this common or am i just some freakshow? i seem to have built an image of this person and become attracted to this....

I think this happens a lot. I also sometimes developed strong feelings for people I met online. This especially happens if you have good online chemistry and can relate to each other. But people say good online chemistry doesn't always ensures good real life chemistry. But sometimes they do. So it's not something unsual - but you should remain logical and shouldn't be too much of a hopeful.

HMM, you are talking about surreal feelings. Do you know I had crush on cartoon characters. Now thats something surreal. (I am too introspective, I guess).

You have real feelings for a real person, and you should go with those. But, like Quidnunc said, be logical about it. However, DON'T do it because you don't have hope. Put hope in there. But, also be realistic. It might work or it might not work, but that is with ALL relationships. I wish you well and hope this is of some comfort to you.
