Anger Management Issues

I believe I have what is known as Anger management issues, I’ve known for a while that I have had problems with my temper, but it’s never a constant problem. Most times when I’m angry I calm down within five or ten minutes, but there are times like tonight where I become so angry, I lose all rational thoughts and my rages just takes over and I become this monster.

How can I overcome this?

Haha, I'm sorry Angels&Airwaves...I'm not laughing because the situation is funny, but I find it ironic that you have a cute little aviator and your name is "Angels&Airwaves," and you have a bad temper. I pictured you as a really sweet kind of guy!

Okay, not that your temper has anything to do with you being generally "sweet." I say if you are about to explode, you should take a moment and just breathe. I mean, really take some big breaths and repeat until you feel calm.

Have you ever watched Family Matters? I loved that show growing up, and there is an episode where Mr. Winslow is trying to work on his anger, so he goes: "3-2-1-1-2-3 What the heck is bothering me?" Hahaha, it didn't work for him of course, because Steve was who was bothering him, and it wouldn't have made for a good show if he suddenly controlled his temper.

Anyway, you get the idea: deep breaths! Really try to focus on just being rational and calm.

Hope this helps!

It’s cool, I’m not too uptight and yes I find the irony of it all too amusing, you’re not the only one. I wouldn’t know if I’m sweet or not, that’s not for me to say, but for the most part I am rather upbeat, happy and positive. I have my moments of unhappiness and I rarely smile, I’m a paradox of some sort perhaps.

I haven’t been angry or upset since I posted this topic, quite the contrary. I have been nothing but happy and have spent the past two days hiking and I camped out last night and came home this morning. Does breathing actually help? I usually drink a glass of water and that helps and my anger will last about five or ten minute’s tops. I suddenly calm down and gather myself together and watch some comedy or paint and that lifts my spirits.

You’ve been a help, I’ll try that next time I get very angry.
