I want to better my life but need , support and guidance

Hello awsome people at Love Shack, My Name is Nathan, im a Canadian boy who is 15 years old (turing 16 at the end of the month). I'm 6'4" and about 208lbs, i want to get into better shape and feel better about myself and not be afraid to take off my shirt in public like the guy in the bowflex commercial lol.

I was on the basketball team this year (so i was involved in some atheltic activity) but basketball is over now, i have a little bit of a belly that i want to get rid of. I think if i get into better shape then i will be more attractive to the opposite sex (i also have to work on being more outgoing).

I don't have access to a gym so i can only do work-outs and excercises i can do at my house, i am willing to cut out most sweets and junk food out of my diet, i'm also trying to eat more fruits and vegetables. i think being at 195lbs would be a good goal maybe?. I want to improve my stamina, of course slim down some (get leaner), i want to make my legs stronger.

I need help working out some sort of training shcedule (what kind of excercies to do in order to acheive my goals), what kind of foods i should eat and stay away from, basically any kind of help, advice, tips, support is welcomed.

Hi, I just read your post. If you want to lose fat, you need to eat more protein, ie., chicken (primarily chicken breast), lean pork, fish, eggs (ideally egg whites) and whey protein shakes, you could get the protein powder at any nutrition supplement store. Don't skip breakfast, in between meals try eating fruits and vegetables as snacks, eat raw almonds, they are very good source of proteing and natural oils. Try getting some dumbells so you could workout at home. You could buy them new or go to a thrifh shop and get them second hand and cheaper.

Try to get a copy of P90X; it's a series of video workouts that would be a lot of help to get rid of the fat and get more toned. If you cannot afford it, try looking online.

Do you have any questions? Feel free to ask, and I'll try to answer them as best I can.

Good Luck!

If you were in the basketball team, then you could jog, it would make you lose some weight, but you would lose weight and get toned faster if you also do some weights. Did you do a search for P90X? Try that; you will love it. You only need dumbells at home.

You could jog/walk for 1/2 hr and then do weight trainning. One day you do your upper body, the next day your lower body, and you also include an abs routine every other day. You are so young, and you'll be able to see results very fast; lucky you.

haha, thanks for the help/advice, i did look into that P90X but i would have to convince my parents to let me buy that off the internet (what if you get hurt, is it going to be safe, etc) but i will certainly look into getting dumbells and finding workouts to do with them

Nathan, every workout routine is dangerous if you do not follow the right precautions. P90X is safe if you follow the instructions to the T. What I'm telling you is that you can get it for free just look for it online. If you do not want to do that. You could also get the book "Body For Life". It has the same principles as the P90X; it gives you nutrition tips and workout routines. This would be great for you because you are a guy, and the workout exercises given are mostly for males. You could get the book from your public library or from any bookstore; the books it's about $40, but you could also look online, and you might be able to download it.

I got my copy of P90X online. The workouts are very challenging, but the good thing about them is that you basically only need dumbells (different weights) a yoga mat (or towel) and some resistance bands (or chin up /pull up bar). The book is the same, except that the excercises shown on the book are all done at the gym with weight machines. If you can send me a pm, I'll give you the specific site where you can get these videos.

If you want instant PM access you can become a supporting member of LS. There's a link with all the info at the very top of the page. Or you can wait until you reach about 50 posts and have been here for about a month to gain PM privvies.

Thanks whichwayisup.

Nathan, look in the most popular torrent sites; you'll be able to find a copy of P90X and on probably even a copy of the book I told you. You can take a look at the videos and decide if they are Ok for you. I think videos are good because you get to see how to perform the exercises properly therefore you have fewer chances of getting hurt. If P90X looks to challenging for you, you could try Turbo Jam. Any workout will be good, but be careful not to overdo it. Good Luck Kiddo!
