My poor little buddy of 14 months has been getting ear infection after ear infection. He got tubes put in not too long ago and now had ANOTHER ear infection.
I'm pretty sure it already slowed down his speech development and I worry about hearing loss
The doctor says everything is fine but i can't help but worry.
When my youngest niece was that age, she had ear infection after ear infection and also had to have tubes put in her ears. Just be careful to keep water out of his ear when bathing him..
My niece is fine now at 6 years old and thriving! Those ear infections didn't hold her back, so try not to worry too much..
Thank you whichway. I appreciate it.
he had tubes and i think one got dislodged and now he has his most recent one.
i just worry about permenant hearing loss, etc
he already is a little behind speech wise because of it i am pretty sure. But that can be remedied.
Also, he is very good with his hands and i can tell he concentrates with good focus, probably due to less distraction because he cant hear so well.
maybe i just worry too much

I dont know, I just wanted to vent a bit.
I had ear infections constantly growing up, up until I was 10 - 12 maybe, I had several a year, not non-stop, there were months in between, but it wasnt until around junior high that I remember not having them.So anyways, Ive always had balance problems, and motion sickness. I was physically active as a kid, but I was constantly falling at the wrong time, or just unable to do certain things. I could bike ride, but not on steep inclines, the rear end of my bike would come up, I wouldnt notice, and next thing you know Im doing a face-plant on the concrete. I could swim, and jump in the water, but never dive. I would jump, but I just couldnt bring my legs up, it made no sense, but I just couldnt coordinate my body once my feet werent on the ground. I took martial arts for years, but I could never do a jump spinning back kick. I cant explain it, I just cant coordinate, control, or balance my body in anyway if I have both feet off the ground. I have lots of examples, these are just a few. The explaination for this was I just wasnt trying hard enough, and believe me, I tried and tried. It wasnt until I was about 28 or so, at a walk in clinic, the doctor looks in my ear, 'Wow, you have a good build up of scar tissue in your inner ear.' I had never heard that before from my doctor. So everything made a lot of sense then. Like I have no fear of heights, but Im not so great on a ladder, I cant tell if Im falling or not, I have no idea until Im lying on the ground. So Im not exactly what Im trying to say, but just know possible long term complications, how to recognize them, and how to deal with them. I wasted a lot of time as a kid trying to do things that werent possible for me, because of my ears. But of course, I didnt know, and often, I was embarrassed because I couldnt do some simple things, or I would end up with a head injury. Believe me, I nearly snapped my neck trying to do a flip on a trampoline! Now that Im aware of whats going on with my balance and my ears, I wouldnt even try it, I can still have fun and be active, but Im less prone to cracking my melon open!
I was also wondering if anyone else had a kid with the same problem and how it worked out or how it did not work out.
Ahhhh, You're looking at Mr. ear infection himself right here, lol
I feel for your baby, and I know how it is: the ear aches and plugged up ears.
Mine were caused by allergies, and I had to take shots every Friday night after school for about a year. Soon after the treatments my ear infections went away and no more plugged ears.
I had 2 tube operations when I was in third grade. I remember the "stuff" leaking out of ears through the tubes, but I liked that feeling of stuff leaking out of my ears(I was a wierd kid).
I, at one time, lost 90% hearing out of my right ear and it did effect me in school as well as speach. I couldn't hear the teacher right off the bat, and they would get mad because I didn't respond. I couldn't "hear" how loud my voice was or if I pronounced words right. I got a lot of looks.
It took them over two years to figure out allergies were doing this... Like the others told you.. seek another opinion, and do get treatment at once.
I was very lucky, and I made a full recovery... I can hear a mouse fart in the woods now, lol.

Yepp, water is no good when you have tubes... I remember my mom keeping me out of the beach and pools when I had them in my ears. Being very young at the time, and I wasn't allowed in the water was devistating... I missed out on a lot back then.
It turned out I had allergies and I had to take medication. I did have to go to speech therapy for a couple years because I had to relearn how to pronounce certain sounds.
But also later we found out kids who have parents who smoke around htem are more apt to get ear infections.
And my mom smoked. The eventually went away in 2nd or 3rd grade than I moved onto chronic strep throat.
