basically, i've been interested in this girl for what...3-4 years? over the span of middle school and now high school of course...only problem is...i'm the type of guy that's too shy to do anything about it...i was friends with her for a while at first, and then i sort of wimped out and let one of my friends, who was her friend as well tell her that i liked her...yea..pathetic i know...insult me later...at any rate...at the time, she said she wasn't really ready for any relationships, and that we could just stay friends. Of course, being an overly shy guy, I get awkward and the friendship just sorta dies out...i sort of gave up for my middle school years...now in high school...first year didn't see her around, no classes, occasional meeting in the hallway, though no speaking...then this year i have classes with her...unfortunately, still no speaking, though its probably mostly my own fault for that...anyway, theres occasional eye contact, though i do take into account they could just be coincidences, or shes lookin at somethin near me...right...so...after all this background info...ill get to the point...i'm wondering if i should give it another shot...like ask her to one of the school dances or somethin or another...just wondering how i should approach this...or if i'm being too hopeful...oh and just for the record, im not very good at talking to girls i like if you havnt picked that up, friends and random girls, sure no problem...the girl im interested in...haha...yea...

Right I think you should go up to her and ask to borrow something..its cheap but it will bring tension down slightly. Ask for something like a pen and then at the end of the class you have to return it to her and say thanks for lending me the pen and hopefully she'll say "its ok". There your formal. Next time you see her...smile!! make it an obvious smile. And then leave it for a bit and let her brain work and wonder a bit. Then maybe next time you see her ask how her weekend was or something and then smile and sit where you sit. Keep it basic then maybe next time!! if appopriate whilst talking to her put your arm on her shoulder..maybe if theres a group of you-whilst you talk to your mates..but make some form of physical contact. By then you should have a better idea whether she likes you or not.
