Yeah, the weight stayed off....because it also changed my eating habits. I mean, I got used to eating a little amount instead of what I was eating before. Of the 30 pounds I lost last summer, I gained about 10 of it back over the winter, and it was due to lack of adequate excersise because I was stuck in the dorm studying 24/7 and you know how that college food is - all fat. But I didn't gain it all back...so that's good.

It seems that it is more expensive to order them on line rather than going to your doctor and paying the insurance co-pay for the exam and the co-pay for the prescription. However, if you don't have insurance, and you are informed properly on the meds, then by all means....it is your body.

She said they're not covered on her insurance. And believe me, I DO know why. It's because of all the lawsuits over the drug! They're dangerous. But yeah, it is her body and she's obviously going to do what she wants anyway, so whatever.

Amazon - read what I wrote above....these pills aren't covered by insurance. I have more than done my research on these pills...trust me, I am not a druggie. I know a lot about them and I have taken them before. I don't have any history of high blood pressure, heart or thyroid probs so I really think it is ok. And I can monitor my blood pressure at home...if I notice any negative changes I will stop taking them. No Big Whoop!!!!!

And Cindy...if there were so many lawsuits over this drug, then why would it be approved by the FDA? Why would doctors prescribe it so much? I know a bunch of people that take it. My MD told me that is his most popular weight loss drug that he prescribes. There are a lot of medicines that aren't covered by insurance..even some birth control pills aren't. Phen-Fen is not the same thing as Phentermine. Just because they both start with "Phen" does not mean crap. I have done plenty of research about it. It does NOT contain ephedrine and Phen-Fen did. That's what is harmful in diet pills.

Define "druggie."

So, if you only have 10 pounds to lose, and they were gained because you weren't exercising, then why not just start exercising again instead of taking a drug? Obviously you were able to fairly keep the weight off without the drug, doing what you were doing. Why not do that again?

That's funny, in my dorm we had a salad bar, fruit, veggies, cereal, a deli bar, soup...all kinds of lower fat options. So no, I don't agree that college food is all fat. You can avoid it if you are willing to make the choice.

Excuse me Jamie but the "Phen" part of Phen-Fen IS Phentermine. And I'm not talking about ephedrine at all, as I know that's not in phentermine. I'm curious, where did you do your research about phentermine?

Here's the official description:

"Phentermine is a sympathomimetic amine, which is similar to an amphetamine. It is also known as an "anorectic" or "anorexigenic" drug. Phentermine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite."

More information about the drug:

"Phentermine is used as a short-term supplement to diet and exercise in the treatment of obesity.

Phentermine is habit forming. You can become physically and psychologically dependent on this medication, and withdrawal effects may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after several weeks of continuous use."

Trust me Jamie, I'm not making this stuff up.

And as a nursing student, I would think you know the definition of the term "obese." In other words, it's not for people who just need to lose a few pounds. And as far as being approved by the FDA, so are a lot of things that end up being dangerous. But like I said, you're free to do whatever you want with your body. I learned my lesson the hard way and I guess some people choose not to know what happens to others and think bad things can't possibly happen to them.

To Cindy: I know that Phentermine was in Phen-Fen but the harmful part of that was the Fen. Like I said, it's not the same thing.

And I knew all of the info you copied and pasted...I have a drug book, thanks.

And like I also said - I will not become dependent on it because I don't plan on taking it for a long time....just until I reach my goal, which shouldn't take too long with these pills.

To Clia: I don't have time to start an excersise program right now because I commute to school AND work full-time. When I get home at night I am exhausted. And you will probably say "well how do you have time to get on here?" When I say exhausted...I mean physically tired, not necessarily sleepy. I get on here to wind down until I sleep. And plus, I have never been that great at sticking to a work out plan.

And the college food thing isn't a concern anymore because I don't live in the dorm anymore....so enough about that.

And to Paul: There is a difference between drinking a little every now and then and smoking a little every now and then and being a druggie. Yeah, I do stuff sometimes (rarely) but I am most certainly NOT a druggie, thanks.

Eating healthy takes no additional time whatsoever. And there are a lot of people out there who go to school full time and work full time but can still find 30-60 minutes to work out. Get up an hour earlier in the morning.

But it's clear you want the quick fix. Good luck with that.

After reading Clia's response,I do agree. My mother does day care for 11 hours a day but she always gets up to do her 45 minute walk which is first thing in the morning before all the kids come in.

Im not trying to dissagree with you Jamie,so dont take it personally.

Plus my mother comes back telling me these stories of these animals she runs into while doing her walk. She comes back and tells me she saw foxes one time while walking. It can be really fun to see what animals you can get to see while walking. You might even want to bring along a friend which can make it more fun.Just never walk alone when its dark.

The more I think about exercising,I dont think it has anything to do with finding time,I think it has more to do with making exercising fun.Have you thought about dancing to music? Or do you like roller skating? The good thing about exercising,is it can be fun.It doesnt have to be boring.I think the biggest thing that stops people from exercising is that they think it will stop them from getting other things done.Im only saying it cause I think its true.Even if its just sparing 5 minutes a day.

Im not trying to insult you Jamie,so dont take it personally.

I think the secret of exercising is to make it fun.Think of some sports or things you like to do,like bowling or swimming. If you dont like bowling or swimming, thats ok.Just think of things you like and have fun.

I admitt,I cant do anything without my music!

Good luck!

This is what I do....

Since I moved over 50 miles away from my doctor that I've had for several years...(I refuse to get a doctor in this town beings I work at the hospital and know how...well rude they can be)

Anyways....all I do is call my doctor back home and talk to the nurse (via cell phone so no long distance charges). Tell the nurse that I'm feeling such n such symptoms ask if I can get an Rx...tell them where I want it called in. The pharmacy that I have them call it in to is right here in town and they are willing to deliver to your home/office free of charge.

They send you a bill every month for the cost of your prescriptions and deduct whatever your insurance has paid.

I do this with antibiotic's, pain meds, and my birthcontrol pills.

Only on occassion am I asked to come in, like in April when the antibiotic's weren't working and I was still sick....had to have a simple blood test to determine I had mono.

This has saved me soo much money. No more 45 dollar office visits every time I get sick.

Just my contribution to the democracy of high medical/prescription costs.
