I was just going to ask the very same thing. I've seen an OP do this, and then accuse others who answer to that topic change to be accused of being off topic by the very OP who changed the topic to begin with!

Again, we are NOT here to penalize people. We want everybody's experience to be pleasant and it can be if all abide by the guidelines they agreed to when they joined LoveShack.

If the OP takes the thread way off topic and it doesn't get back real quick then the OP and others will be subject to infractions. Those are the rules that everybody operates under.

Moderators use rules coupled with common sense and decency to make judgment calls. There are exceptions to everything and each circumstance has to be evaluated. The main goal is to achieve a smooth functioning web site where respect and courtesy abound. It's a very rough mission considering in any given week there are hundreds of new people on the site who must be oriented to our guidelines.

..Then why not just start a new (spin off) thread about the new topic..
