I understand how you feel OP.

Yeah maybe your bf is really busy with school but he is not too busy for at least a little contact with you, not if he really values this relationship. That is what you need.. it's all you ask for, and it's NOT asking too much. Give and take. It's even more troubling that you already had this issue with him in the past and therefore he is well aware that bad communication does not work for you.

Good for you for standing up for what you need. We have to take care of ourselves because nobody else can be relied upon to do so.

I could honestly, very easily think of a solution that might potentially solve this problem (assuming it really is him studying too much), if you'd still like to give it a try.

You both have access to internet most of the day, right? And he's studying at home?

If so, you could just have him leave Skype or something on while he's studying. So you can see him, even though he can't talk. I know for a fact that my SO actually studied 10+ hours a day before his med school finals... and I'm 100% certain that he spent all that time studying because I saw him.
