Question What's an Al-Anon meeting like?

Hi,

I've been referred by a counselor to try out Al-Anon meetings. I'm a little skeptical, but was wondering if anyone here has any experience to share.

What are they like? Do family members and friends of alcoholics also need a 12 step program and why?

Thanks in advance.
