sunburned
Distance Were you to cross the world, my dear, To work or love or fight, I could be calm and wistful here, And close my eyes at night. It were a sweet and gallant pain To be a sea apart ... But, oh, to have you down the lane Is bitter to my heart -- Dorothy Parker (1893-1967) Edited October 14, 2013 by sunburned font code displayed
Author sunburned
I am giving my own post a bump since there seem to be a number of OW/MOW currently on the forum and living in the same 'hood as their MM. This was my maiden LS post, so no one replied since (i guess) there was no intro of myself or my story. Nearly six months later, it was finally "liked" by someone (thanks for throwing me a bone, FoolishOW!), which made me think of it again. I believe a lot of you on both sides of the fidelity fence would like Dorothy Parker, so let me introduce her if you haven't already had the literary privilege ...
MuddyFootprints
This one makes me smile. One Perfect Rose A single flow'r he sent me, since we met. All tenderly his messenger he chose; Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose. I knew the language of the floweret; 'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.' Love long has taken for his amulet One perfect rose. Why is it no one ever sent me yet One perfect limousine, do you suppose? Ah no, it's always just my luck to get One perfect rose. eta: If you can find an audio of her readings do it! Edited April 5, 2014 by MuddyFootprints
Author sunburned
Or this quote from when she was apartment hunting in New York: "I don't need much. Just enough space to lay my hat -- plus a few friends." (She was single)
