Meaplus3
Placeing this here because so many of you know my story. Lyric's now. [FONT=Arial]Wish You Were Here By Flyod! So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? And did they get you trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears, wish you were here. Lizzie60
My all time favourite group... I listen to Dark Side of the Moon a few times a week... I use their music for the massages... they are soooo good... sexy music....
Lizzie60
from Pink Floyd... is 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' this one for the massage is amazing.... soooooo sensual...
Storyrider
Those songs were both actually written for Syd Barrett, their original lead singer who went insane. I don't think they were intended to be sensual, but I guess everything is open to interpretation.
Herzen
"Wish You Were Here," was written for Sid Barrett, a Pink Floyd founder and front man.Sid tripped out years ago--thousands of acid trips--left the band an acid burn-out and lived with his mother for years until he died last year. For me, the song represents longing for someone who meant a great deal and who is now no longer in your life. For example, my best friend, a guy, died in the Mt. Helens eruption and every time I hear the song, I think of Joel. At bottom, it's about loves and friends lost, and longing... .

Hurt & Alone
IWALH, I am wondering if you have found a coping method through music lyrics and if it works. I have tried this but each time a song comes on that reminds me of my xmm I find myself bawling my eyes out and thinking of him more.
jbmarine
I think that the song most representative of the OW and ESPECIALLY the OM, even MORE especially in my case is "Lying Eyes" by the Eagles.
climbergirl
LoveSong: well I'll never listen to that song the same way again. Floyd: last verse I get. First two, not so much. I'm not even sure if I've ever heard it. More from the 'Cure' era than Floyd. How are those verses interpreted?
patientguy
Yeah, I can relate to that song. It's a good one. There are so many relevant songs I'm sometimes scared to listen to the radio. Here's one I heard today... Rachael Yamagata - Reason Why I think about how it might have been We'd spend our days travelin' It's not that I don't understand you It's not that I don't want to be with you But you only wanted me The way you wanted me So, I will head out alone and hope for the best And we can hang our heads down as we skip the goodbyes You can tell the world what you want them to hear I've got nothing left to lose, my dear So, I'm up for the little white lies But you and I know the reason why I'm gone, and you're still there I'll buy a magazine searching for your face From coast to coast, or whatever I find my place I'll track you on the radio And I'll sign your list in a different name But as close as I get to you It's not the same So, I will head out alone and hope for the best We can pat ourselves on the back and say that we tried And if one of us makes it big We can spill our regrets And talk about how the love never dies But you and I know the reason why I'm gone, and you're still there So, steal the show And do your best to cover the tracks that I have left I wish you well and hope you find whatever you're looking for The way I might've changed my mind But you only showed me the door So, I will head out alone and hope for the best We can pat ourselves on the back and say that we tried And if one of us makes it big We can spill our regrets And talk about how the love never dies But you and I know the reason why
norajane
Haha, I think you are right. Sounds exactly like the bullsh*t xMM used to tell me!!!!! Sorry, I can't let that go... Robert Smith wrote Love Song for his longtime girlfriend, Mary Poole, just before they got married. It's just too wrong to twist his words into MM bull****!!
patientguy
I know that this one was actually written by an OW. It was Johnny Cash's second wife. That's one of those rare instances where things worked out. Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire Love is a burning thing and it makes a firery ring bound by wild desire I fell in to a ring of fire... I fell in to a burning ring of fire I went down, down, down and the flames went higher. And it burns, burns, burns the ring of fire the ring of fire. The taste of love is sweet when hearts like our's meet I fell for you like a child oh, but the fire went wild.. I fell in to a burning ring of fire.....[etc]
ahotmess
Music has helped me sooo much throughout my seemingly never ending relationship with my MM. I have a ton of songs on my Ipod that relate. I Highly Reccomend: FUEL LYRICS "Running Away" Everyday you're on my mind Pain is feeling passing time But if she found out about you she would die And if I have to live without you so would I So I thirst for the water I find myself wanting now [Chorus:] So I'm running away to you I cannot escape you To feel your touch The faith you prove I'm running away to you Hearts are never made of stone Pain will cut you to the bone But I know that holding you is all so wrong So tonight's the last we'll ever be alone So I thirst for the water I find myself wanting now [Chorus] Turn around, fill my eyes with you All senses to commit Till every thing's all right
ahotmess
Sometimes, during the break-up phase of this whole awful ordeal, crying is needed and I shed alot of tears listening to this song. I always thought of him dedicating this to me. It's so blatantly honest....yet sweet and is by one of my favorite groups...Death Cab For Cutie "Someday You Will Be Loved" I once knew a girl In the years of my youth With eyes like the summer All beauty and truth In the morning I fled Left a note and it read Someday you will be loved. I cannot pretend that I felt any regret Cause each broken heart will eventually mend As the blood runs red down the needle and thread Someday you will be loved You'll be loved you'll be loved Like you never have known The memories of me Will seem more like bad dreams Just a series of blurs Like I never occurred Someday you will be loved You may feel alone when you're falling asleep And everytime tears roll down your cheeks But I know your heart belongs to someone you've yet to meet Someday you will be loved You'll be loved you'll be loved Like you never have known The memories of me Will seem more like bad dreams Just a series of blurs Like I never occurred Someday you will be loved You'll be loved you'll be loved Like you never have known The memories of me Will seem more like bad dreams Just a series of blurs Like I never occurred Someday you will be loved Someday you will be loved

I have tried this but each time a song comes on that reminds me of my xmm I find myself bawling my eyes out and thinking of him more. Eh, it can be a coping method at times. But it can also do the opposite for me too. I have been using much more effective coping methods like keeping myself really busy and going to church, taking trips to the park, beach and DISNEY WORLD (woohoo!) with my daughter and family. Certain songs make me feel really empowered and help me cope... others drag me back down and make me think about him again.
PoshPrincess
I think that the song most representative of the OW and ESPECIALLY the OM, even MORE especially in my case is "Lying Eyes" by the Eagles. Haha, I remember that coming on the radio when I was in the car with exMM and I told him it was his song. He was q offended! As for Wish You Were Here by Floyd. Fantastic song! When I was in an A with an OM it always made me think of him but the song was around long before he came along and is still one of my faves a long time after........ With MM, EVERY song that reminds me of him makes me cry! Once I associated them with him there was no turning back. Even songs I would never have liked in a million years! I never analyzed the lyrics before, but they're rather introspective and philosophical for a bunch of young Brittish hippies. They may have written them about Barret, but there's a lot going on in those few lines

Even songs I would never have liked in a million years! PP- it gets alot easier trust me. I eventually stopped listening to ALOT of my favorite songs because they reminded me of him and that made me cry. And then when I started moving on I still avoided them...until oneday I heard one on the radio. I didn't cry....so I started to listen to the songs on my Ipod...and it was great...of course I think of him...but it's brief...and my music selection has dramatically incresased (doesn't EVERY song remind you of him in some way?) There is another song that I recommend. It is By Reba and is called "Does He Love You". It is a duet with a W and an OW singing. Pretty good. And just an FYI- Reba has alot of songs about A's it's worth checking out!

Herzen
For post-affair music, when the affair is truly over in every sense of the word, nothing beats Green Day's "Time of Your Life": Another turning point; a fork stuck in the road. Time grabs you by the wrist; directs you where to go. So make the best of this test and don't ask why. It's not a question but a lesson learned in time. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. So take the photographs and still frames in your mind. Hang it on a shelf In good health and good time. Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial. For what it's worth, it was worth all the while. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. (music break) It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. The last stanza captures the complex mix of regret, remorse and resolve that affects many post-affair. The perfect farewell.

Herzen, That is a perfect post-affair song. Eveytime I hear that song Ive thought the same thing. Just for Giggles. Here's one song I would NEVER dedicate to xmm. Ha!:lmao:LOLOLOL!! AP:lmao: Won't you be my Neighbor- By Fred Roger's It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, A beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?... It's a neighborly day in this beauty wood, A neighborly day for a beauty. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?... I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you. I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you. So, let's make the most of this beautiful day. Since we're together we might as well say: Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won't you be my neighbor? Won't you please, Won't you please? Please won't you be my neighbor?
Storyrider
... You'll be loved you'll be loved Like you never have known The memories of me Will seem more like bad dreams Just a series of blurs Like I never occurred Someday you will be loved Someday you will be loved... Not at all to belittle your own memories and feelings about this song, but the point of view it expresses seems like a cop out to me. To excuse his unloving treatment by offering some rosy imaginary future to the person he dissed? I'm sure that helps him to feel better.

My exMW certainly is not. On a more serious side, I'm happy to see that another "veteran" shares my sense of triumphant remorse on hearing that great Green Day song. By the way, the acoustic version is fine, too.
