Magic Mike

Recommended Posts

My partner is going to see the movie with Channing Tatum with some of her girlfriends. It bothers me a little that she wants to go see a "beefcake" movie. It almost equates with me going to a strip club....I don't plan to take any of those girls home either....

I'd like to know other's thoughts.

rofl rofl rofl.

My gf just got a present from her co-worker... it was a dvd, Magic Mike. I giggled. She asked me if I wanted to watch it with her, I said nah, I saw it when it was called strip tease.

Have you seen that movie? In fact, have you seen any movie like strip tease, show girls, game of thrones, or you know ANY adult themed movie with nudity?

Do you watch porn? If so, you'd be a huge hypocrite. I doubt your partner is planning on bringing Channing Tatum home.

I guess you can rent Debbie Does Dallas dvd and put it on during dinner tomorrow night so she knows how it feels to be in your shoes.

No, it isn't like you going to a strip club. It's like you watching porn. Do you watch porn? Does she mind?

(Even though there's no sex in this movie. It's just men with their tops off)

I think as long as the girlfriends tag along, Channing Tatum going is not a big issue. He seems like a really nice guy and a good dancer.

Would it make a difference if there was sex in the movie? This movie is made for women to go to and drool over half naked men. That's supposed to be okay. That's why I equate it with strip clubs....

LOL, nice.

OP, I'm seeing it tonight with a couple of girlfriends. I did ask my BF if is was alright though, but only because he'd said a couple of weeks ago that he wanted to see it, too. He was totally fine with it, though.

What would be more awkward—watching it WITH your GF, or her going by herself? And no, I don't equate it with going to a strip club. Men get lap dances and slip dollar bills into ladies' thongs—the only thing that's going to be in my lap is a tub of popcorn and the only place my money's going is to the box office.

It's a bloody movie for f'sakes.....I seen enough nude women/butt shots/boobs in movies.....let us ladies have some beefcake entertainment. Yes it's entrainment.

I agree you are comparing real life strippers to a MOVIE....apples to oranges hun.

I worked ladies nights for 4 years, men stripping down totally nude 12" dic ks, etc. and body builder topless waiters. My BF didn't care one bit because it's entertainment. And I didn't think for a moment to myself "Gosh I just want to bang that guy..."

Are you saying the ladies shouldn't be able to go see Leprechaun in theaters this Friday? Jennifer Aniston does look pretty hot cocking a shotgun.

This 2nd MM movie from what I read is a pure female perv movie. Less plot than the first movie and I guess the first one did good boxoffice, and was cheap to make. Movies like ShowGirls & Striptease aimed to be somewhat couple friendly, but this is aimed straight for packs of woman going to the theater for girls night out and wont miss the male demographic going. In fact some of the male loss could be made up with gay guys taking up some of the seats.

I'm sure quite a few guys will feel insecure over their gf/wife going to see this on a girls night out. It would phase me just a little but as I watch porn and would not want to be barred from going to strip club for a bucks party I'm certainly not going to make any fuss for my gf going. Fairs fair. Though with porn today, there are no more Ron Jeremys in the business, and it easy for guys to feel a bit insecure with it and for women to enjoy the eye candy there too.

I worked at Chippendales briefly. There was guy we called Big Sal. He'd do push-ups on that nasty bathroom floor before the women arrived to pump up his muscles. He eventually got fired for getting head during work.

Only once while I was there did they'd admit a man. Actually, two men. One of them was this older dude who looked like he was well-moneyed. If memory doesn't serve he wore a monocle. OK, I'm making that up. But there was something Teutonic about his presence.

The "ballad" sung during that show was horrendous. A sampling of some of the lyrics:

Actually, I don't remember the lyrics, I remember the lyrics that I superimposed on top of the lyrics:

Tonight, I'm doing lats

Tomorrow, I'm doing traps

Baby, take my hand

Your wish is my command

Cuz' there's nothing I wouldn't do-oo

For a shrug of 280

(That chorus was really Cuz there's nothing I woudn't do-oo for the love of a lady, but I made the song about all the guy's preoccupation with their bodies and working out.)

Another funny thing I remember is how one of the guys would go up behind seated women and basically teabag the back of their heads. That the women seemed to get a kick out of it made it extra funny:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I was introduced as The Surfer, because I liked to "hang ten." I regret to announce I've never hung that loose in my life, but hey...it was where dreams happen. One night I was going up to the stage and I tripped just a little bit on the steps. This idiot woman in the front row who knew my name called it out and said something like, "It's OK Sycamore, you do your thang..."

I was such a misfit for that job...

A movie is definitely not the same as going to a live strip club. It's just a movie for goodness sake. She'll go, her and her friends will watch it, do some cat calls and then come home. That's the extent of it.

Life goes on...

I'm taking my girl to that tomorrow night, people should get to see things they enjoy and that turn them on. Life is too short.

the movie is not the issue. The real issue is after the movie. If she is in an exclusive relationship with you and then heads out to a club with a bunch of girls who want to act like they are on Spring Break after they see this movie, that would be a lot more bothersome than a silly movie.

Tell her to go to the movie and come home and take out her horniness on you.

Ya know, I have to say...I never thought I'd see the day where a guy would write a thread like this because he feels that it's inappropriate for his gf to watch a movie with her mates (and is feeling somewhat inadequate about her seeing a film) that glorifies and specifically focuses on guys' junk bouncing around and their ripped bods gyrating for the sole purpose of attempting to get the women who see it sexually aroused.

There are some women who feel this way (and have made various threads) about their guy watching porn or any type of movie that glorifies females' body parts, and the men always brush it off by saying, "Hey man, it's just pixels on a screen", "The women aren't real, they're just acting" or (my personal favorite) "It's just a normal sexual fantasy that every man has!"

OP, welcome to the aspect of some relationships that a lot of women have had to deal with (and are still putting up with). Magic Mike won't be the last movie that your gf will watch that features guys' penises (albeit them being slightly covered, but still) and hard bodies. You say that you don't watch porn because you feel that you don't have to as long as you have a gf. That's very commendable and admirable - and just so you know...you're a dying breed, sir.

At least you can be happy with the fact that your gf doesn't watch soft or hardcore pornography - or does she?! Because if you're uncomfy with her going to see Magic Mike which is an R-rated movie, you'd $hit on yourself if you walked in on her (or if you knew that she was) watching porn! If it bothers you that much that she watches those kinds of movies, tell her how it makes you feel and see what she says. If she just brushes off your feelings like they don't matter or tells you that you're just being 'insecure' (like how a lot of guys do to their gfs), then you'll know how much she respects and empathizes with your feelings and your opinion about this.

Insecurity isn't attractive man.

So what if she's watching a movie with some beefcakes in it. She's got the real thing waiting at home for her ;)
