When you block someone's cell number, can they tell?

Hello

I'm considering putting a block on a cell number of an ex. VERY long story about a guy that I dated in 2011 who will sometimes still text me to tell me that he misses me or he's thinking about me (really, just trying to see if I'm still on the hook) and it puts me in a tail spin emotionally. I would like to be done with that.

I have heard (haven't tried it yet) that the cell carrier that I have, you can go online and block a certain number.

Do they know they've been blocked? As in, will the text 'bounce back' as 'undeliverable' or do they just think you're ignoring them? If they call you, what do they hear? 'Sorry, you've been blocked' or 'sorry, this call cannot be completed as dialed'?

Just curious if any of you know the answers to this question.

Thanks!!

I know with my carrier that if a blocked person texts me that the text says it was delivered and in reality it wasn't.

So with texts.. no they don't know.

With calls however they will hear a recording saying I am are not presently accepting calls, so while they don't know if they were blocked they at the very least know they can't contact me.

Verizon is my carrier

Also, who cares.. if the texts are unwanted then block away.. don't worry about some guy's feelings that won't take no for answer

FWIW, Verizon only blocks texts for three months. If you don't want to have to continually remember to block him every three months, or a surprise text in say seven months, use one of the many apps out there as well.

Alternatively, just ignore him. If you never ever respond, people get the message after a while and stop. If you respond even once, people persist even longer than if you respond ever single time and then stop abruptly. It's why slot machines work the way they do in casinos.
