Beatnik
OK I was just thinkin about some of the past relationships I've had, and I realize that I change a little bit when I went out with each of them. Now I'm a pretty average guy with a broad range of interests, so say if I go out with girl who likes Punk music, I start listening to punk music alot, involuntarily. Is it normal for a guy to "adapt" to a new girl?
Tony T
YOU ASK: "Is it normal for a guy to "adapt" to a new girl?" This is called mirroring and it's usually done to impress a girl. It's great to learn new things and learn to appreciate new bits of life as we date. However, if you feel you must pursue interests in things you just aren't into in order to impress a female, that is very wrong. So, as long as it makes you happy and you are learning, use dating experiences to broaden your horizons. But when you start to do things you really don't want to deep down, get away. Of course, we all have to compromise once in a while...but not all the time. There's got to be give and take in all relationships...but it's bad when doing so makes us unhappy with ourselves and our life.
