saying no to somebody toxic but pushy

she is a neighbour who wants to be friendly to everybody on the street we live in, because she has been bossy at me in my house, because she discusses other people in the vicinity (gossip!) and has been freely critical of me in the past, I want to really lose her

she beleives in being neighbourly, but is not a person i like, i told her straight she can't go thru life like she does, dominating - not just once but every third sentence  or so she's like that

i am never going to be the underling in relation to somebody else

i have other social options that are pleasanter

i'm 60, she's around mid 40's - we're not kids!

she is much taller than me too  maybe that's nothing, i don't know

i know she's going to pester me in my gut

i know she's overpowering

any thoughts?

Learn to say "No, thank you.....", as many times as needed.

You can even say it cheerfully, with a smile on your face--(which provides less fodder for her to gossip about you)

If you want to mix it up a bit you can also say, "Sorry, that doesn't work for me."

You can also try to bore her senseless, when she gets pushy with you--take control of the conversation:

quitesureanymoreandyouweretryingtoclimbatreeand

ofthenewlipstickyoujustboughtandhowyoudon'tlikethenewdrugstorewhere

youfoundit.............etc,etc.etc.

Just don't let her get a word in edgewise.

She'll run screaming into the night, and won't be in a hurry to bother you again.;)
