GoldPenny
Considering they've never heard my voice, know my offline personality, and seen me, and only know how I present information on message boards and the quality of my submitted work, would it still be okay to have them write a reference letter for me? Would it be as valid as a reference offline?
LIGHT
There is no reason why a referance of this type would not be valid. Much depends on the position for which you are applying and the contents of a referance. As an employer i look for what is not in the referance and focus on the positive when writing one. Ie a may say that an employee who has problems with time keeping is a good worker and not make any referance to timekeeping. Conversely the absence of information would make me suspiscous and i would ask questions concerning this at interview.
