Determinism vs. Free Will

Recommended Posts

A lot of religions have predestination, so that means there is nothing you can do to get into heaven.

If you don't believe in predestination, then you have 'free will' so to speak. If you ask your god "will jane doe go to heaven?" He will say, "I don't know yet, I'll have to see." But this turns a higher power into a seven eleven clerk. If you do good deeds, then you get what you deserve.

If you give the clerk $7, they give you a loaf of bread. Same idea.

So how does the average yankee argue concerning their ticket to heaven or whatever?

I don't think you can pay for things like this. I don't know if you can be assured of where you will go or for how long. Everything is uncertain. One day the IPhone is $600, the next it's $400. The same goes for the religious world. One day eating meat on Friday will get you to hell...the next day eating meat on Friday is just fine.

I'm so confused. I think I'll just leave it to God to put me in the right direction and hope I get there. Meanwhile, I will do my best to observe LoveShack guidelines and stay on topic.
