DO NOT ask people on a board for medical advice!!!! If you have ALL the symptoms, that constitutes an emergency and your mom should be driving you to the emergency room NOW. Folks in the hospital will always tell you it's better to be safe than sorry. GO.

BrittanyJean lots of other things can cause the same symptoms.

Off to the ER with you.

I thought you said you had 'all' the symptoms of heart trouble.

Then again, a lot of people die because they thought they had indigestion when they were having heart attacks. Which is why a doctor is where you go to get information about your health.

BJ -- how old are you..? Heart disease is mainly a disease of older people. I doubt if you were having a heart attack you'd be able to sit at the PC. My Dad had two and he was too ill to speak let alone anything else.

Chinook, heart attacks in women are quite different than they are in men for one thing and for another people can die of heart attack at any age, as they can of stroke and cancer. Haven't you heard of the young athletes who have dropped dead on the playing field? Never assume anybody is 'too young' to have an illness. Children have died of strokes even.

Outcast, actually I'm a cardiac nurse and yes I have although those cases are very rare in comparison. As I originally said, it should be checked by a Dr.

Brittany Jean those symptoms could be a number of things - please try not to panic, it will make the pain worse. But as Outcast says you should be on the way to ER not sitting in front of the PC

Clear!!!!

Everybody head to casualty. I'm going to ask for a lollipop afterwards.

Are you talking about a problem you have had for a long time? And I don't mean hours. (You can answer this when you get back.)

Seek medical assistance IMMEDIATELY. Actually, scrap that - drop everything and go right now!

Yep but if you're one of the rare ones, stats don't matter :) Like winning the loto - doesn't matter if there were 31 million chances against - you've got the cheque in your mitts. And with all due respect, I've known people to be told by medical personnel they 'can't' have something because they were too young. but they had it.

but medicine is an art based in science...you cannot screen every person for every known malady. If this was std practice an office visit would cost $150,000.

My best friend died at 21 from a cerebrovascular accident. A Berry's aneurism. He was healthy as a horse and work up one morning and collapsed.

My mom died in 97. She was suffering from abdominal pain and fatigue. The first dr. told her it was indegestion or stomach flu. The second dr. told her it was massive metastatic cancer of the abdomen. She died 4 months later.

And my brother from meningitis - even though he'd been seen by a doctor. Like you say, it's not always clear what's going on.

And my mom's breast cancer was persistently misdiagnosed by 'THE' breast cancer specialist in town. Fortunately, they don't usually need to spend $150000 to figure out if you're having a heart attack :) Oh and my aunt died very young of a stroke after just leaving her doctor's office and having been pronounced healthy.

Lessons learned: life's too short and get your butt to the doctor and pray he'll get it right.

Yep. I was one of the rare ones. I was told I 'can't have' breast cancer at 32 cos it's an older woman's disease. Doc's face two weeks later when I handed him the path report was a picture.

Needless to say, I work in education now rather than clinical practice

There are dozens of maladies that have symptoms similar to a heart attack. You are a bit young to have heart disease but it could happen.

If you have the cool to remain at home and post on an Internet forum when you think you are having heart problems, you are a better person than I am. I would have called an emergency service instantly, at least to check me out. If you go to your nearest fire station, they would be happy to take your blood pressure...and they're usually equipped to give an EKG which they can easily interpret...and it's free.

Water pressure... blood pressure... same principle.

And I thought they spent most of their time playing cards?

Either that or visiting the nurses' residence when they 'accidentally' set off the fire alarms with their toaster :D

(not that I did anything like that)

Get an EKG while you're at it. I mean, you are getting some heart flutters, right? Lie back, relax, and let them place the electrodes.
