I feel like I Got Punched in the Stomach

LITERALLY. That's how my stomach has been feeling the
last 3-4 days. Nothing else, just feels like a dull uncomfortable pain
inside my stomach, like when you get punched. I feel fine otherwise,
a little tired and run down. But I'm worried it could be something
serious.

I Have NO idea what it could be and I scheduled a Doc appt,
but it's not for a week. Any ideas? I don't expect accurate
Doctor advice, but I'm just curious...I don't think it could
be an Ulcer or the so-called "stomach flu" because i don't
feel sick otherwise. It's just lasted a few days too long for
me. I've done my research on the web, but nothing helped..

I have no idea what might cause such a thing, but I'd definitely call your doctor's office every morning to see if they have a cancellation. People are cancelling all the time, and they could probably sneak you in earlier.

You need to find out what's going on for your own peace of mind. I hope you feel better soon! Let us know what your doctor tells you.

More thoughts on the badness of Soda Pop

I drink at Least 2-3 a day. Not even diet ones, real
Cokes or Pepsi or Dr Pepper. I'm convinced that i'm
addicted. I'll even make an extra stop on the way home,
to pick up some soda for dinner. Water? please...why drink
water when Soda tastes so good? I notice I eat more too
and enjoy dinner more when I have soda.

But The more i've been researching on the internet and the
more i've been noticing that I'm not feeling as good as I should
be inside...I'm realizing that SODA is NOT GOOD for you, Not
even in Moderation. Even the caffiene causes increases in
stomach acids causing ulcers i've read. Could that be why
i've been experiencing stomach pains lately?

Sodium Benzoate, the phosphoric acids, i mean even the fact
that Benzene may be produced from the chemicals in most sodas
(i'm no scientist) is enough now to make me think twice
about drinking it, no matter what headaches are coming my
way from stopping.

Again, I've been suffering lately from stomach pains. I feel groggy
a lot of the time. I don't sleep the greatest, if I do, i sleep really
hard and wake up feeling horrible, headache, etc. I rarely ever
wake up feeling refreshed and alive. I feel like a zombie every
morning.

Anyway, among other things, I'm officially ending my consumption
of carbonated beverages with chemicals and high amounts
of acidity. I'm not drinking Soda anymore, that's it. even beer,
forget it. I want to live clean.

I'm also going to cut my coffee intake. never drank it for years
until 2 years ago. Now I drink it everyday, strong coffee too.
I'm Only going to indulge on the weekends, I don't need it everyday
to operate.

I want to feel good. I used to believe in the "everything in moderation"
kinda belief. But I think we as people abuse it too much, I know
that I do. So you end up never cutting out the bad stuff...then
if you're an addictive person like me, you gradually add more and more
and eat or drink it more often and more often til ultimately, i'm
eating and drinking too much of it. Then the "moderation" factor
has gone completely out the window.

Anyway, this won't work for everyone, i'm mainly just venting....

Quitting sodas is a brilliant idea! 2-3 a day is actually a lot. And perhaps hold off on the coffee until you have figured out what is going on with your stomach. I don't know much about the chemical composition of soda pop, I just know they're loaded with pure sugar. Pure sugar is never a good thing. It feeds candida bacterias in the stomach and intestine that can cause a lot of aches.

One thing though: don't quit both cafeine and sugar cold turkey. Replace your cafeine intake with tea and then try to cut down on how much you need every day. As for sugar, buy lots of fresh fruits and dried fruits - or even granola bars- and eat them throughout the day to ward off 'sugar downs'. Also, you might want to increase your fiber intake which will help keep your energy levels steady throughout the day and might actually help with the stomach pain. Nothing like All-Bran, but if you're not a fan go for supplements such as metamucil.

About the fiber increase... This was what my family doctor, who is just amazing, recommended when I complained about stomach aches. She told me the increased fiber intake might make things worst for a couple of days, but that I should see improvement within a week. She was absolutely right.

A good thing you are getting it checked.
Is it more on one side than the other?
If it's on the right side, go immediately, it could be appendicitis.

I refuse to drink anything that contains high-fructose corn syrup, and I suggest everyone else do the same.
