I was going through a tough time and something made me look back and examine my browsing history. What I thought was a little distraction had eaten up about 3 solid days of my time when my husband was away. Everything was dirty in the cottage I stayed in, I had been on the couch watching porn the whole time! Holy crap, I had a problem! So I cut it out of my life and only went back to it once (shortly after my husband and I separated) and it didn't do anything special anymore, and even if it did, I know how toxic it would be to me and my self-esteem, so it stayed out of my life. Porn was an escape for me. Little did I know that I wasn't the only one in my marriage using it, and the other party was using it and avoiding sex with me. Fast-forward two years and although I have had a tough time, I am glad that I have been able to live to a higher standard in my marriage and not use pornography as an escapist tool to avoid dealing with the intimate conflict that has been eating at my marriage. I am glad that if there is sex for me in my marriage that it won't come form a plastic box. I have been able to flush that weakness and move on! Yay! Doesnt matter what boat you used for escapism, the result was you moved beyond that and now have a new perspective.
