Giving As Much Detail As Possible

How important is it for members to give as much detail as possible when they need advice for their story like with a dating situation? I haven't read any threads about how important it is to not leave anything out and to include as much detail as possible in the OP otherwise members cannot expect to get advice that is applicable to them.

It's like some patients going to the doctor and failing to be specific enough about their symptoms such as how often the pain happens, time of day, what type of food they ate, pain level on a scale of 1-10. A doctor can't help a patient if they say the pain level is a 3 when it's really at a 7. Poor communication can lead to a misdiagnosis or a medical condition being underdiagnosed or overdiagnosed.

Poor communication of details in a forum will lead to getting advice that won't benefit.
