Why do girls cam up and show their bodies for strangers to see? Is it for the money or do they really want too? I just don't understand why they would do something so degrading.

It's like being a porn star, I don't get it, but I guess the money is really good.

From what I have read the money is not that great. My guess it is the thrill in most cases. But I am sure to an 18 year old in her bedroom the extra money however small may appear like a lot.

Well, I almost became emotionally attracted to one, I know embarrassing and I stopped all communication with her. I should realize they are not there to get into a serious relationship, they are their to make money and get a thrill out of it.

I noticed you're from south FL, I think that's where a lot of cam girls live.

Half the time they never get the money or most of it and it's going to some pimp. Also, I have seen some trials on human trafficking and a lot of these girls were either forced into it or groomed when they were young and vulnerable to do it by their pimp and his organization.

Thank you for thinking about the actual girls in the sex trade and wondering what the situation is, because sadly, not many people do. They are rarely carefree and independent and almost never like doing what they do and use a lot of drugs to blot out the memory of doing it.

Well, he's wondering, but he's simultaneously shaming them and calling it degrading.

Half the time they never get the money or most of it and it's going to some pimp. Also, I have seen some trials on human trafficking and a lot of these girls were either forced into it or groomed when they were young and vulnerable to do it by their pimp and his organization.

That sounds much more like prostitution and less like camgirls. Doing camera work is MUCH, MUCH safer than a lot of the sex industry. There's no actual person there who can hurt you, and you can go into business for yourself right out of your bedroom without having to get any sort of pimp/middleman involved. Some of the networks probably still do squeeze you for fees, I haven't deeply researched it, but there are a lot of different providers and if you're willing to advertise yourself hard enough you can probably avoid the whole network thing entirely.

Why do they do it? Well, this has already sort of been touched on. There's money. Not necessarily huge amounts of money, but fairly easy money if you enjoy the work, and it doesn't involve going into an office or being bossed around, which is very important for some people either because they want their freedom or because their life circumstances make it difficult for them to maintain normal working hours. There's the thrill of doing something 'naughty', and the power trip of feeling attractive and knowing that you can control the situation.

Some women who go into voluntary sex work do it precisely because bad things happened to them in the past in abusive relationships, and by using their sexuality as a commodity they feel like THEY are the ones in charge. Especially as a cam girl, if some guy is being horrible and they don't want to deal with it, they can just block him, poof, gone.

There's a huge range of situations in the sex industry. It's not easy living even for the top porn stars, because they have to constantly work to keep up their brands and maintain their popularity or they'll get dropped for the next cute thing, but still the situation of a known porn star is VERY different from the situation of a girl who got bored and made one sex film for quick money, is very different from the situation of an escort working freelance somewhere that's legal, is very different from the situation of someone trafficked into an illegal brothel, is very different from the situation of a streetwalker doing desperate things for drug money. Whole wide range of stories out there. Some people just do phone sex and that's pretty much the safest of all.

Yes I've been out with a cam girl I didn't know it at the time. I told her she has to quit that job and I'll take care of you. She did. I don't know if that's were all of them are as you say. This is a No-Fault State, although anything can happen here an anyone can open a business out their own house without a lot of legal stuff. But again your the first to bring that up.

Superchicken

Its totally a thrill, and feeling sexy, wanted, etc.

Example, I've taken my Lexus to 265Kph for the thrill and excitement of it.

The feeling is so incredible, and the rush.. Its like nothing else..

Totally stupid, yes, but, stupid is every mans middle name.

Plus at that speed, my last name is Dumb Ass, but that's another story.

Nothing wrong with what someone else wants to show, or do, as long as it harms no one else.

You don't like it, don't look.

I know you wont be wanted in our "Peeping Toms club", which I am a proud member in !.

It IS degrading to be someone's moneymaker and being a sex worker.

Some people would say it's degrading to be in wage labor at all.

If you actually enjoy posing naked, how is getting paid for something you find fun more 'degrading' than spending all day covered in grease at a fast food joint? I'd say it isn't.

If someone's being used against their will, or doing something they detest because it's the only way they know how to fuel their addictions, that's a whole different story.

A lot of them do it to pay for school too, I mean their is scholarships and pell grants to help pay for schooling, I know it doesn't pay all of it, but if you have a great GPA, it pays for most of it.

I had a great GPA from a great school and I didn't qualify for any sort of scholarship. I qualified for loans and work-study programs, that's all.

It kind of depends on the school though I guess. I've heard rumors a few of the really top schools (harvard?) are now working on a no-loan system where if you're accepted they'll just waive any part of tuition that would normally fall under standard financial aid. And I know some state schools waive a lot of tuition for residents if they have good grades. But if you want to go to a specific school you still could be looking at a pretty massive pricetag.

A few reasons, first everyone wants to be sexually desired to at least some degree, women especially in our society are taught (implicitly) that they have to be sexually desirable.

Beyond that, young people more than ever want validation in terms of online likes, etc. to the point where they will go to crazy lengths for them.

Thirdly, exhibitionism is a very common sexual fetish, a lot of women get turned on by showing their bodies off like that.

Of course money is the main thing, but that doesn't mean they all hate it either.

I've known that to happen to someone else I know but with another type of sex worker. It took him a lot to realize what was going on and I feel sad for him because I still don't think he realizes it completely. I think he's still lying to himself on parts of it.

I don't know if I agree with this but many of the women I've met IRL are VERY jaded towards men. Not sure if it came from the sex work or not.

I have thought about it a few times in my life. I don't want to do it to be in charge or because I have baggage from a guy who hurt me. It just seems like an interesting way to earn money, I'm good at figuring out men, and it's one of the few things I could do for a few hours per week and make similar wages per hour to my day job. Much of the moonlighting work in my field they want more hours than I could put in working full-time or it involves travel which I don't want to do right now. I want more control of my schedule and flexibility more than anything and that's difficult to do nowadays in a corporate environment. I like the idea of achieving financial independence earlier in life than retirement.
