And women's "I could care less if I give him sex once I got a ring on my finger" attitude is what drives a lot of me to porn instead of pursuing marriage. That's why, IMO, men should be allowed to have mistresses. At least the mistress can take off of the wifey's hands the "deed" she feels burdened with (having sex with her husband). It is poorly organized and makes frequent, unsubstantiated leaps between marriage rates and porn viewing. Yes marriage rates have gone down and divorce has gone up. Is it really because of porn or is it that women (and men) no longer have to stay in an unhappy marriage, as society compelled them to is the 50's (the author's magic happy time). I don't know about most women, but the women I know all at least occassionally watch porn. I watch it fairly frequently. It's fun to watch it with the BF, it can help make things a bit hotter. And why would I care if my BF watches porn? As long as he continues to put out and keep me satisfied, I see absolutely no problem with it. Rather than porn causing a delay in marriage I think it has to do with a general cultural shift that places importance on growing a career and sewing your wild oats BEFORE you settle down. 4 Link to post Share on other sites

At any rate, even if we give them the (huge!) benefit of the doubt that it's true, so what? If someone is abstaining from marriage or LTRs because they prefer to jerk off to videos of other people having sex, that's a good thing - these people should certainly NOT be attempting marriage or LTRs! 2 Link to post Share on other sites

A majority of women on pof and other places list, "not looking for a relationship" as their preference. Add to this the long line of girls who just want to go out, have fun and sex, while we all rotate sex partners like musical chairs and that's what is causing it. The hookup culture provides us men with ample sex from different girls because that's now what very many women want. Before, more women wanted relationship. Monogamy. This is definitely not the case anymore, so as controlled by sex as us guys are, we just have to roll with the punches and do what the women want in order to get some. Ltrs and marriage used to be the way to plenty of sex. Now, it's "hang out" for a while and f#ck. Then on to the next one. I'm finding myself stuck in this pattern and unable to get anything serious going as well. Probably doomed to be single and catching some disease as a result. Sucks pretty bad. I find it funny when people assume that porn is some sort of altruistic measure being pumped out to provide a helpful release to the poor men and women out there who have nothing to roll in the hay with but their mind,a jar of vaseline and an inflatable sheep. In a different forum a wife literally posted "HELP! My husband's 6 year mistress quit and now he's becoming unbearable!" Couldn't help but laugh at that, she handled it perfectly. You don't even need to read the article, it's all in there! The comments at the bottom of the article are also worth a look, and gives a good idea as to the type of readership that site attracts. It is also amazing how guys would even call that sufficient enough to keep watching. So far, I have reached 6 months since watching my last porn video. Even then, I only watched it like once every 2 weeks so it wasn't like I was even addicted to begin with. But I had to be so selective because so many of them was more disturbing rather than arousing. Now, I can get aroused much easier by looking at certain ladies' online photos rather than go to porn if I really need a release. I rather have a relationship though with a woman rather than masturbate but, outside of getting a prostitute (which is still illegal here), I will simply have to be patient for a few more months and see what happens from there.
