Sick of the extended Family...

-Sick of the Favoritism that seems to go on amongst Aunts

and cousins and Grandma and Grandchildren, etc.

-Sick of the Drama and the he-said/she-said bullsh**. Seems like

drama really fuels this family. any comment is taken out of context

and then watch out, i'm not talking to you for 4 months. What is this

High School? Why is everyone so on the defensive so quickly?

-Sick of all the "Who calls Grandma and Grandpa the most?" type

competition.

Ugh.

I think i'm through going to extended Family Gatherings...Too much of

a drive and I just can't seem to join the pack anymore. Maybe i'm the

black sheep of the bunch.

no, dear, you're the smart one for protecting his sanity. I've got siblings I don't talk with unless it's for specific information that needs to be exchanged – one brother is a freakin' emotional vampire/drama queen that does his best to suck you in, and I've learned that I can live without that kind of stress!

another sibling doesn't call unless she wants something, so that's one less person to have to deal with.

the trick is to love them because they're flesh and blood, but not let them overwhelm or take advantage of your good nature.

focus on your own little family ... you'll be much happier that way!

I have learned recently, it's best to love from afar, be kind when you do come in contact with any of them and not get too involved.

that's what i'm going to do. let them judge me if they want to

or talk about me behind my back because i'm not "part of the

team". I'll be kind and cordial and call my Grandmother on a

regular basis to check in, but i'm not going to feel bad or feel

guilty about not keeping in touch with every single one of my

aunts or go out of my way to try to make every extended fam

get-together.

As you should. You don't have to go out of your way to please anyone. Just be yourself and when around others be pleasant. Because, all arguing does it make a persons' health decline. I have learned that the hard way.:p
