lofi_tokyo
I don't know if I'd call this a good breakup song. But... it sounds great, and I think it has some super nice little lines that are poetic and quite true. Also, its a dialogue between exlovers, and... I like it because I think its a pretty general dialogue that probably would never happen in earnest, but seems quite plausible all the same. I've bolded the bits I really like Nothing Better - The Postal Service Guy: Will someone please call a surgeon Who can crack my ribs and repair this broken heart That you're deserting for better company? I can't accept that it's over... I will block the door like a goalie tending the net In the third quarter of a tied-game rivalry So just say how to make it right And i swear i'll do my best to comply Tell me am i right to think that there could be nothing better Than making you my bride and slowly growing old together Girl: I feel must interject here you're getting carried away feeling sorry for yourself With these revisions and gaps in history So let me help you remember. I've made charts and graphs that should finally make it clear. I've prepared a lecture on why i have to leave So please back away and let me go Guy: I can't my darling i love you so... Tell me am i right to think that there could be nothing better Than making you my bride and slowly growing old together Girl: Don't you feed me lines about some idealistic future Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures Guy: I admit that i have made mistakes and i swear I'll never wrong you again Girl: You've got a lure i can't deny, But you've had your chance so say goodbye Say goodbye **** The bolded bits and why I like em: First bolded part: I think everyone who is dumped kind of... self-edits their relationships to some extent, they're caught up in a flurry of emotions and kind of sweep over why things needed to end. They feel sorry for themselves and continue to review and re-edit everything that has happened. I'm not saying this is bad, but its nice to see it pointed out! Second bolded part: Its just SO PRETTY! Its true, if you keep tearing out the stiches you're just gonna keep yourself from healing - stay NC! Third part: Saying goodbye. You've gotta do it eventually. ;p
Peter_pan
hmm is good but i hate the way the girl was like youve had your chance. if you love someone you always give them another chance. it reminds me of when i asked my ex for another chance, and she was like no, moving here was our chance... i was like ! wtf thanks. the way i was asking for anther chance made me feel i actually did something wrong
Crazy.S
yes it sounds like me when my head was still in the clouds. somehow i thought getting another chance was all i need, when really it would of just prolonged the inevitable. she made the decision and i don't think you can change that once she starts thinking like that way.
