How do I break up with a Schizophrenic?

This is the most abnormal breakup I've ever been through.

My X (girlfriend of 5 years) and I broke up last year.

We tried to reconcile in January to no avail.

For those who don't know, schizophrenia is a condition that
causes a person to see things to be GREATLY (imagine 10 times)
more intense than they actually are.

I didn't want a 5 year relationship to go down the tubes.
For about 6 mos. previous to our relationship ending we were
bickering a bit. She called it 'Fighting.' My picture had been
face down on the mantle for at least 4 months. I found photos
of her and me with my family torn up.

Things had gotten so out of proportion.

There have been charges filed against me. I was arrested and released. (ROR?) They were dismissed. Something as simple as bumping into her in
the foyer turned into "He pushed me down the stairs." Of course the cops
couldn't find any marks on her. They said they had to 'take the report'
anyway. They were almost nice about it.

After we tried to get together in January she stated she had another boyfriend.

(over the phone)

"Why don't you just have sex with him like you have sex with me."
"I can't believe I even slept with a pig like you!"

The next morning the police were at my door saying that I threatened
to kill her and not only arrested me but my 71 year old dad had to bail
me out with over $7000 of his and my money. No 10% It was either that or pay a bondsman roughly $1000 that would not be returned.

The charges were downgraded to harassment.

I requested mediation from the courts. It was declared to be unresolved.

Last week I was in court. The DA offered me a plea bargain.
"I want this dismissed."
"Just go in front of the judge."
Judge:
"Are you pleading not-guilty?"
"These charges are entirely fabricated."
"Adjourned for a new court date. Show up with your lawyer."

Has anyone gone through anything like this?

Since we broke up, I've been dating.
I currently have a new love interest. I hope this one might last through
the summer instead of just a few weeks. I'm getting mixed signals but
that's just par for the course as I seem to 'get my heart broke' every
month!

Since you're not with her anymore, I'm assuming that you're venting and the question in your thread title does not require an answer.

For what it's worth, I suggest that you draw a line under it all, put the past behind you and give this new girl a chance.

No I'm not venting.

Assuming that I have TAMED REALITY DOWN
as objectively as possible.

When will the prank phone calls and hangups
from blocked numbers stop for instance?

If after 150 more of them and I actually do call
and leave a message to 'cut the crap'
do you think I will again be prosecuted
for instance?

Black hole NC and making like a hole in the water is the best way to end a relationship with a mentally ill person, IMO. Change contact information, move, whatever. Erase it. Do not engage them. It's OK to love someone and let them go.

I cared for a paraphrenic for eight years and know all about the delusions, hallucinations and psychosis. I couldn't leave because she was my mother. Good luck.
